linked video...although the presenter, Fr. Michael Himes, is/was a Theology Professor, IMO his final lecture has 'definitive value' for ALL persons...
I'll point you to two of my takeaways...
>In Fr. Himes telling of an epic poem about Parsifal and a King, Parsifal learns a valuable lesson...i.e. don't just watch the King suffering...ask "What is the source of your Pain?"...i.e. give yourself to another.
>Fr. Himes, in his role as a Theology Professor, advises.."Respect the Tradition...but don't let it hem you in"....paraphrasing, he says that the "Tradition" was formed by lived experiences of others who themselves had 'Blind Spots'...were not fully formed...so (you) go forward with your own lived experience(s) and EXPAND the Tradition, while always being respectful of it.
The video takes 52 minutes...best to pause...make a note or two...then come back to it a little later...then ponder your notes and EXPAND on the meaning(s) they have for YOU.
