He's the leader of the gang that can't shoot straight. The border disaster, the Afghan disaster, the energy disaster, the NATO/Ukraine disaster, the China rising disaster, the Crime rising disaster, the finacial market disaster. What the hell have they done right?

a range of polls and uses some 'adjustments' for their perception of bias one way or the other. No one is perfect, but at least you get to see more than one...

in 'Electoral Votes' as well...she still won the popular vote, but the swing states bit on Comey's letter to Congress...with less than a week to go before the election, I'm guessing that the polls couldn't catch the full effect of that drop in confidence...but that's just my take, who knows...maybe Paul Manafort and his Russian contact were able to put the campaign's polling data to good use with last minute social media 'infomercials'...
Nonetheless, since the agglomeration of multiple polls means more people being surveyed, I like "538" rather than a singular poll...make any sense?

That is amazing.
btw, almost finished with "The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors"...great writing in the early going...backgrounds on many from S3 to Admiral...then the strategy insight...blow by blow battle "scenes"...but the extensive "Realism" of shelling damage, while sobering and essential, was a bit much for me....would like to have a lot more on the reasons for Japanese and American decision making.
btw, came across the linked 'biopic" of the Samar Battle...good relatively quick overview...liked the narrator's approach.

He has since passed away, I think. I thought I would read his most famous book first before starting on some others. Pure happenstance that they discovered the ship right after I finished it.
It must have been awful being on such a tiny ship with those huge caliber shells coming in. Really remarkable that they all kept fighting long after they had taken enough damage to make an honorable withdrawal from the fight, with apparently no breakdown in discipline.
the Johnston DD took off after the Center Force cruisers before getting the order to do so...similarly, the Roberts' CO.
If I read correctly, a) the Japanese really had Halsey figured out...b) but at the same time, Nimitz 'fed' his aggressiveness with the "OK" to take on any serious threat he might see coming (i.e. the Decoy Northern Force)...also,c) Kurita could be excused given the loses he had already suffered...his fatigue from being up 72 hours straight, and the threat potential of Kincaid coming up to meet him...plus no air cover.
I wonder what sorts of scenarios are taught/tested in today's War College...
btw, I had never heard about the different colored dyes in Japanese shells before...I'm pretty sure they weren't for playing "Paint Ball".
Thanks for recommending the book...well worth the time spent.
decisions looking forward...or with the effects of Putin's War on the economy...who would be.
Take away Putin and polls turn the other way rapidly IMO...but that's not happening anytime soon, so Biden must soldier on doing the best he can with a completely un-cooperative GOP desperate to regain House and Senate majorities and oppose any progress that would be perceived as beneficial to him...
The odds are that Putin will hang in there and not negotiate before our mid-terms...after that, with NATO strengthening its resolve and...fingers crossed...alternative sources for gas and oil are established for the EU, Putin will get squeezed enough to call a halt...some degree of order will be restored...Trump will be on trial and the GOP will have to find a candidate who doesn't carry any stink of Trump...good luck!
One person's opinion...
