Why?
They want to get rid of Biden?
They see the illegals piling up in their city?
They see Dems slipping in the polls of Hispanics?
All of the above?

tightened U.S. border restrictions..." Tightened restrictions, give me a break.
They are still not interested in protecting the border.
They believe that countries that espouse "democracies," should not have border controls.
passing through Laredo.alone?...The cartels are earning billions off this trade...they represent a formidable enemy...and I'm guessing a substantial part of the problem...how about we drop the "Open Borders" trope and get serious about dealing with this issue.
btw, Kudos to the New York Times for their reporting on what the real problems are.

NYC and DC get a couple hundred sent up from Texas...national issue that needs handling.
Nice "not in my neighborhood" attitude from the Left.
And away from hapless Mayorcas, et al.
How can we hope to fight these ruthless criminals? Yada yada.
escalating for years and a simplistic "Wall" was never going to fix it...
Note this excerpt from the NYT article...
-----------------------------
Rigs hauling migrants blend with the 20,000 trucks that travel daily on the I-35 freeway to and from Laredo, the country’s busiest land port. Border Patrol agents posted at checkpoints inspect only a fraction of all the vehicles to ensure traffic keeps flowing.
The tractor-trailer discovered on June 27 with its tragic cargo had passed through a checkpoint about 30 miles north of Laredo without arousing suspicions. By the time it stopped three hours later on a remote road in San Antonio, most of the 64 people inside had already died.
The driver, Homero Zamorano Jr., one of two men indicted on Thursday in connection with the tragedy, said that he was unaware that the air-conditioning system had failed.
The 2014 incident at the stash house in Texas resulted in the arrest of the perpetrators and a subsequent trial, providing an unusually vivid look at the brutal tactics of smuggling operations. Though kidnapping and extortion happen with some frequency, such trials with cooperating witnesses are relatively rare, federal law enforcement officials say. Fearing deportation, undocumented relatives of kidnapped migrants seldom call the authorities.
-------------------------
20,000 trucks pass through Laredo every day...the smugglers can do the math...no way all those illegals are going to get caught...what is your solution to that growing problem, given the billions in revenue the cartels are getting?
with Biden "running" the show.
smuggling incident...the problem has grown dramatically since then..i.e. DURING TRUMP's administration...HIS border was just as "Open"...and no WALL was going to do a thing about the trucking of illegal immigrants by smugglers and cartels.
You got "Played" by Trump...

Criminal incompetence
Picture of the Haitians he stashed under the bridge before flying them to NYC
and willful ignorance...you should have read the reports that I and others posted here that contained the context and explanation for the surge...it had NOTHING to do with Biden...Chile had kicked out all the refugees and they couldn't go back home, so Voila! they did the smart thing and knocked on the door of the richest country on earth...wouldn't YOU?...Oh, and they were not all given free passage into the U.S....administrations have Congressionally approved quotas they need to abide by...and the Biden admin is adhering to those limits.
As you've no doubt noticed, cartels are preying on desperate immigrants by ferrying them in container trucks mixed in amongst 20,000 per day, total # of trucks through Laredo for one example...that's where a lot, if not most truly "Illegal" immigration is occurring, and no "Wall" was going to stop that influx (maybe why Trump never got GOP backing for his signature promise).
Let's just stop the "Open Borders" nonsense right now and get serious about how to deal with smugglers and cartels...hopefully, with Dems and Reps working together with shared 'Humanitarian" motives, as well as U.S. security.

Mexico has been a failed state for a long time. If there was ever a place for the US to nation-build, one would think Mexico would have been a good candidate.

In their face. Now they are living with the issue that small towns in Texas have been dealing with forever, it’s a big problem. Sounds like what Abbott is doing is working. Now he needs to start busing these illegals to major liberal cities.
I’m sure our liberal posters will be more than happy to open their homes to these people. They have no issues with open borders, they should step up to help. You know, own their votes.

They don't want to go all in for the good of the country and say the Ds have destroyed this once great nation. So they drip drip to make Biden a one term D. Thank you for your loyal lefty service Joe. Now move along.

....namely that she will not be controllable nor suggestable like Biden. She will take those reins greedily.
Good freaking luck Dems. A prick. Two prick aficionados. And a fat tub of goo from a failed state. Awesome sauce.

My guess is she's happiest tossing in criticisms from the cheap seats (expensive seats?) at their two beachfront manses.

If Kamala takes over, she won't be able to break a tie in the Senate. If they wait until the next Congress, they won't be able to win in either house.
