the "White Coat" ceremony is a big deal in any physician's life...this shows the concern of students, faculty members and family over the prospect of denying women safe and competent medical care when faced with their choice for an abortion. This country witnessed the horrors of back-alley abortions which would surely ensue if abortion is not made legal...this is why Roe v. Wade came to be.
I'm surprised Baron didn't post this article...with a different spin.

care...from the NPR article...
"The university remains "committed to providing high quality, safe reproductive care for patients, across all their reproductive health needs," INCLUDING ABORTION CARE, the statement said." (emphasis mine).
I'm sure many, many other candidates for Keynote speaker would have been better choices...no need to politicize this important event in the new Med Students lives.

The students and faculty are keenly aware that abortions will be driven underground in states that ban them, resulting in great harm to women who won't have good, professional medical care
...especially those without means to travel, etc. those Doctors and Students are standing up for the women who are being ignored by such as Dr. Collier.

There were many better choices and there was no need to politicize what was once an important award.
you, too can learn what this means by reading the previously posted article by Cardinal-to-be McElroy...when a President is responsible for not only our entire nation's well being, but the free world's, there are issues that transcend one's stance on abortion.
