qualified candidates for high office...just jaw dropping...and I ask myself "Why" do they do this?...my thoughts turn to an opinion piece that stated they don't care, since the Republican Party is a front for big business who want to be sure that they can operate unencumbered, by their own rules...i.e. a "Plutocracy"...and they'll call the shots out of sight of the public...in fact, the less capable they are (candidates) the more controllable they are.
btw, just found a similar article...there are others...just Google "The GOP is a front for a plutocracy"...
Dems on the other hand keep promoting people who have strong opinions on policy and make things happen (e.g. FDR's New Deal...Kennedy's Space Race...Johnson's Civil Rights...on up to Obama's ACA)

There is more to it than you all obviously know.
