CA legislature approves keeping Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant operational until 2030...

Gov. Newsom on record as approving of this measure...says this is a "Clean" energy source...measures will also take advantage of $1.4B in federal assistance to PG&E for keeping the two units going.

Given that new 'GEN-IV' reactors will become operational at that time, there's a good chance that they will be approved for the CA grid shortly thereafter.

Someone please let Baron know what's actually happening in the world around him so he doesn't feel compelled to make up his own 'reports'.

What's your problem with keeping Diablo Canyon online?

no problem but doesn't address the real need.

Admittedly, CA has made some poor choices on energy...especially wrt nuclear...over the years, I've

done speaking engagements and met with Congressmen and their staff to try and help move people in the right direction...it's hard and I share the frustration, but the vast majority of folks have honest and justifiable concerns, so it takes time...and sometimes real world experiences, like we're having now, to help them change their perspective.

The Democratic Party Platform now has shifted to include Nuclear Power, and with Gov. Newsom's recent support for the technology, I believe CA will follow...of course there will always be "Glass Half Empty" people...are you among them?

there are no honest and justifiable concerns if people want a modern society. No nuclear and no foss

Most people who are not NP supporters right now have legitimate concerns about safety and waste

disposal...fortunately, the 'GEN-IV' reactors starting to enter their construction/demonstration phases address those concerns, however the 'proofs' that will support licensing won't be available until the 2030 timeframe, so no orders will be placed until then...admittedly not optimal, but it is what it is...wouldn't surprise me to see another extension request for Diablo Canyon.

In our representative democracy, it is vitally important to our energy future that a significant majority (not all) of Americans buy into the expansion of NP, and for that to happen, those concerns need to be addressed first.
