The world desperately needs natural gas, which is by far the cleanest fossil fuel. But our most strident green fanatics don’t care about the economy or people at all.

In it, it was the hippies that opposed Nuclear Power which sent us down the fossil fuel mostly singular path.
Also, worth noting that a lot of these folks are activists by nature. They aren't interested in solutions, just something to oppose in order to draw purpose.
operational...try to keep up.

Is it even enough to fund a single new nuclear power plant?
reactors, they have private development funding in addition to what the DOE is providing...no issues there. The big challenge is going to be how many of each kind to build and how to create a grid that accommodates not only different flavors of Nukes, but also Wind/Solar/Hydro installations...and for awhile, some FF gas powered facilities...much more work to be done, but we're tracking in the right direction.
Please send emails to your Congressmen/Women and Senators encouraging them to support Nuclear Power as the reliable, 'Base Load' portion of our future energy strategy...NOW.

you know more about our Nuclear Power development programs than over 300 million Americans (just need to read the links) ;-)...
but as to your concern about funding...back in the early days, the government needed to fund companies who had NEVER built such novel devices (i.e. Reactors)...lots of unknown risk...insurance, etc....now the situation is more of a "Cost Sharing" with investor groups (e.g. Bill Gates' "Terrapower" + GE-Hitachi on the 'Natrium' Fast Reactor Program being built in Wyoming)...
Money, at the very least, is needed to assign DOE/NRC resources to such projects so that the licensing effort keeps pace with development...there may be other areas of direct funding to private enterprise, but I'm not up to speed on the details...just know that billions of your tax dollars are going to Nuclear Reactor developments (plural).
At this stage of the game, those developments are NOT being hamstrung for lack of funding and should proceed according to the schedule shown in one of my links.
Am I making this any clearer for you?...i.e. the Biden administration is fully supporting the needed Nuclear Power Advanced Reactor developments...while, btw, providing sufficient funding to keep existing reactors operational...can I hear a "Thank You, Joe!"?

by the Biden administration?
You're what I like to call a bootlicker, but unlike Jim at least you're civil. So there's that.
a Masters in Engineering specializing in Power Systems (of all types...including Nuclear)...over a decade of design engineering for a Nuclear Reactor firm, followed by management of a key reactor safety system device program that is still in use today...additionally, I've maintained contact weekly for the last 15 years with others still active in the NP field...and we discuss all manner of issues related to it.
If there is a question I can't immediately answer for you in this area, I have the email addresses and phone numbers of those who are leading SMR and Fast Reactor developments right now.

Or gaslighting?
They are driven by a single mantra - Must Kill All Fossil Fuels.
NOTHING else matters to these morons.
Consequences of their lunacy simply do not matter - they don’t care.
They are a grave threat to the world.

it takes more than a little "Hubris" to believe that 196 Parties (including Russia and China) are on the wrong side of this issue...perhaps even to the point of being "Moronic"...stifle your emotions for a moment and do some much needed research, and maybe...just maybe...you'll understand what's actually taking place and why action is needed. There are differing approaches, however, the goal is the same...stop burning FFs, while preserving them for their unique benefits.
You wasted your money.
and India are up to...btw, I've already posted a link showing that China has over 220 nuclear reactors in their pipeline...Russia is a major player in much needed Advanced Fast Reactors, as well as Fusion Reactor development.
Your personal opinions...with absolutely nothing to back them up, are worth...nothing...when are you going to realize this simple fact? Just being angry is not a winning strategy...at least among rational adults.

Don't mistake pity for anger. You wasted your money at ND. If indeed you went there.
not something you can 'Flip a Switch' on and change overnight...not sure what universe your mind is in, but those in this one 'Get It'...at the very least, try to catch up.
btw, in case you didn't notice, your assertion about China and India has been debunked...solidly...and as for Russia, check out the attached link...they are focused on 'Fast Reactors' that will enable the use of ALL the Uranium that is mined thus multiplying that resource by 60X....also, those Fast Reactors (the ones I worked on over 40 years ago) will reduce the Radiation toxicity timeframe of Nuclear Waste from hundreds of thousands of years to just around 300 years...while at the same time reducing the volume of nuclear waste...check out this link...

Again, do more research before you post...and pay attention to those who know what they are talking about.

I would have thought you'd be cheering the Biden admin's choice in this matter...what gives?
