Biden spokeschick says that this is “actually a common practice” ( at least under Biden).
There is email evidence of Teachers Federation objecting to guidelines issued, and then of the CDC switching recommendations thereafter and using wording verbatim from at least 2 separate demands in the email from the federation.
So now we discover powerful entities can lobby to influence the agency that is supposed to be making recommendations based on scientific fact.
Fauci forever!!!!!!!
(If we have learned one thing for certain from this pandemic, it is that the medical branches of government both national and international have been polluted with politics.)

reference, btw...upon a cursory review they talk about using masks, having adequate ventilation, teacher vaccinations, etc...doesn't read like a guideline for closures.
Is it inappropriate for the CDC to seek opinions from the people who are going to be working in those buildings?...and maybe actually taking those comments into account as they develop those guidelines?
If you've done more study on this than I have (which isn't much, I confess) then help me understand the problems that have been created...I am aware of the the concerns that many teachers and administrators have - especially the older ones - about being in close proximity to bunches of potentially COVID-infected "rug rats" all day, but your MIT study definitely shows that with adequate ventilation, vaccinated teachers, and relatively low indoor activity levels, there should be no problem opening up schools...per the CDC. If some teacher unions still object, it's on them and not the CDC.
Again, I haven't done a "deep dive" on this and am open to further info from you.

Save a few weeks last Spring when we had a statewide lockdown.
Our kids played sports, had extracurricular activities, ate in the lunchroom, didn't have plexiglass around their desks and it was not a problem. In fact, the infection rate in the schools were lower than the general population.
changes to the school ventilation system?...desk spacing? If nothing ever changed, I'd say you/they were lucky. It doesn't take a Dr. Fauci to figure out that putting 20+ unvaccinated people close together in a small room for 5-6 hours for months on end is a Coronavirus' dream environment...ready made viral transport to all those more vulnerable adults the kids will come in contact with.
Sorry to keep bringing it up, but the MIT report that Baron provided speaks directly to this issue of School Rooms and infection rates...you should dig it out with the "Search" engine and read it...no way you open a school w/o the "adjustments" recommended in that report.
Temperatures were taken upon entrance. Nothing that couldn't be done by ANY school. You are always harping on data. Where is your data showing rampant spread in schools. Tick Tock.
And BTW, I'll stack my "expert" family and friends against yours any day. Among others I have a CLOSE family member who is an Epidemiologist at John's Hopkins. He has been on the forefront of the pandemic from day 1. He happens to be one of the biggest liberals I've ever met. Guess what he did last fall??? Enrolled his kids in private school so they could have in-person learning.
are appropriate measures taken...masks, distancing, ventilation, and now vaccinations for teachers, the kids can and should be in school...we also agree that wasn't the case last year, and not every school is likely to be up-to-par yet, so let's just let those school boards follow the guidelines and open up...ta-da!
Cheers, ND!
BTW, I do remember you mentioning your close connection to a HC professional...that's great...I'm guessing that the private school took similar steps...can't imagine taking none. Remember, though that private schools have more latitude in such matters...we observed a similar 'dynamic' here and not every family felt good about in-person learning under the existing conditions...more than a few opted for on-line instruction until things improved.
