In all seriousness, both pipelines suffered catastrophic underwater events earlier this week five hours apart.
There's no possible way it was something other than sabotage.
European natural gas prices jumped 8% on the news, which are already 3x higher than a year ago.
All because Trump was not in office and we have incontinent incompetent instead who could not prevent this war. Unless we clear cut our forests for pellet fuel, Europe will freeze this winter and, frankly, they earned it!

Have you forgotten so soon?

these pipelines being destroyed. Here's a pic from the Danes of the gas bubbling to the service. Looks like a manmade catastrophe to me.
Any hope of gas flowing to Europe via Nord Stream I is gone. And now the other pipelines are believed to be a risk.
What will the West do in response to this escalation? Let us know.
It would make little sense for the Russians to destroy these pipelines - they could have just stopped selling.
Seems to me it was probably was done to hurt Russia. Not sure why the West would have to "respond."
I really hope your answer is not the US. That would be a truly disastrous move by us, imo. It would probably result in the implosion of NATO and an irrecoverable loss of trust.
There aren’t too many countries with the capability to do this. I doubt there is any radical green organization that could do it.

No way they got a submarine to the Baltic.
I very much doubt that Russia would threaten it's own pipelines - especially because precision in such a setting would be very limited, and they would know that they could completely screw themselves if the operation went wrong.
I doubt any drone could even do that.
I just looked it up. They lost their only submarine when the russians invaded crimea in 2014.
This was definitely not the Ukrainians.
...and thus it is possible anyways.
You would deploy them from a boat miles away I would assume.
I still think it would be a crazy risk for UKR to take because it would definitely piss off the majority of NATO

If we did it, I hope to hell that we were careful not to leave behind any clues.

I was convinced that there is no way we would do that. You made me nervous.
If we did do it, Biden and Blinken are like:
Not too many countries capable of hitting underwater targets with drones. And it is probably significant that it all happened outside NATO territorial waters.
I just hope that if we were reckless enough to do this, we wouldn't be stupid enough to admit it.
The fact that the pipelines were not destroyed, and that the damage may be reparable, might suggest that it was a Russian operation meant to remind the Europeans of their vulnerability. Amp up the pressure.
No one (in the unclassified world) knows at this point.
