Tough teams play D. Tough teams rebound. In 15 years he is all offense all the time. Never emphasizes D. Offense performances can wax and wane it D and rebounding are consistent. And he just doesn't get it. Yes, he coaches good offense, but it seems like we have never been tough under him. And never will be. Nice guy, but not an elite coach.
ND plays hard defensively; they just don't have the athletes. The only thing I would say is they don't do a good job boxing out, but most kids nowadays don't.
Certainly played defense on Friday. UNC was just too good tonight.
Gonna be a lot of hyperbolic nonsense on here for awhile.

That hurt. Beyond that, ND was undersized and doesn't have the athletes like UNC. It stinks, but let's not go overboard with these autopsies.
Usually had no one there tonight on offensive end.
This team overachieved. Elite 8 two years in a row. They didn't come close to having the athletes the teams left in the tournament had. UNC just had way too much size inside for us to handle. The kids played hard and got beat by a better team.

Johnson and Meeks are much better than Zach. I love the kid but he will never get any meaningful minutes in the NBA. Add Hicks, Jackson, and Pinson to those two and we were far overmatched inside. Bonzie is undersized for a big man and Beachem should be able to rebound better at 6'8" but he has never been a good rebounder. If we play them 100 times we will get pounded on the boards 90 times and probably get close but never outrebound them.
They out rebounded us at our defensive end! Should never happen. We ranked number 270 in country at defensive rebounding. 38% to other team. Higher after tonite.
Auguste and Colson and Colson is an undersized 6' 5". Often they are not even in the game at the same time. No one else on this team averages more than 4 rebounds per game.
And you don't think UNC has more talent than ND? They have SIX McDonald's All-Americans on their roster and none of them is named Brice Johnson. How many does ND have?
Although last I checked Butler had none of the above on their back to back final fours. Great coaching/tough playing.
now....
that recruit the potential one and done players or those that leave after two years that consistently appear in the Final Four. We simply cannot recruit that type of player. I don't know why you guys continue to not realize that when they took the rule out, whether it was written or unwritten, that a player could not leave until after his junior year, our recruiting chances with difference makers went way down. Brey is a superb coach and wins with the only talent he can get.
