Not the finished product David Rivers was, but the best athlete at that position ND has ever had.
T.J. Gibbs will be a good one, but not even close to the same type of athlete.

A drop? Probably, mostly by virtue of losing D.J. Elijah Burns, the redshirt, will be a very good player. T.J. Gibbs will be a very good point guard. John Mooney is a very underrated prospect. The kid has a serious face-up game at 6'9" 225/230. Really good passer, tough rebounder, among other things. I like the new talent for next year. Brey then needs to get a top 50-type player in next year's class.

THe Ross twins? Why don't you go to bed and sleep on this.
We should be able to play with the big boys. I don't buy that we were so underwhelmed talent wise and overachieved.
who plays 2 minutes a game for Portland, while schools like Duke send 3 or more players each year who all start in the NBA their first year oftentimes. Our talent is decent but it is only top 20 at best. Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky, Syracuse reload every year.
Why didn't I get that memo? Why don't we stick to who is on this year's team? DJ is an undersized guard and while he has immense talent, he will have some difficulty in the NBA. Auguste will not have much of an NBA career. He doesn't play defense that well and is not a shot intimidator. His offensive game around the rim is decent but not good enough to overcome his defensive limitations and the inside guys we will face in the NBA will be much larger than he faces in college. He has no outside shot so he won't be more than a part time role player. I won't be surprised if he doesn't even make an NBA roster and if he does, I will be surprised if he lasts more than 3 years.
Nobody else made the Elite Eight each season. We ran into a buzzsaw today against a team with more NBA talent (to use your criteria) and hung with them most of the game. Am I disappointed, of course, but that doesn't diminish what has been achieved.
But I thought game plan here against an admittedly great team was weak. Don't look for a shot til 7 on shot clock. Don't send anyone to offensive boards. Don't box out defensively. Could have made it a lot closer and could have stole it.
You really think we could run up and down with those guys. If so you're delusional. The kids played hard just couldn't make shots at key junctures.
Obviously D.J. will play. I think Beachem can get there because he's a 6'8" shooter with a quick release. Most of the ND's players were not even on the radar of UNC as recruits. It matters.
Coaching matters too
.396 winning percentage in the NBA.....yup, coaching.
