16 years on the job, and some people think this year was a huge accomplishment. I guess some people not on this board noticed the caliber of the team's faced en route the Elite 8.
I went back and re-read Brey's crying about not getting plaudits in comparison to the football team. Someone should tell him that football fans, and the coaching staff, don't think #17 is anything to crow about.
The sad thing is that it's all down hill from here. Another spectacular recruiting class (NOT).
But hey, Tom Noie says they are thinking Elite 8 next year!

Your negativity never gets old. Just kidding, Bud.
that's always fun.
And if Brey coached football, we'd be very happy.

Don't you realize that usually after the first round of games the teams are all capable of knocking each other off, and sometimes in the first round too. See Michigan State this year. Actually getting to the round of eight is a good accomplishment. And we gave North Carolina as good a battle as we were realistically capable of. Recruiting is the issue, but once the NBA started grabbing stars after one and done, we were done getting the very top recruits. That is why our women's program is so successful, no real incentive to jump to WNBA so the girls think of getting their degrees first at all schools, and our degree means more.
Lots of what you say is totally correct. Respectfully, I see a different path. Duke is an excellent, comparable academic institution, and made the transition. Brey has tried and failed because he has 16 years of mostly mediocrity.
The ACC is full of very good academic schools including UNC though they obviously were running a separate school for the bball team.
