I really like these guys as a base for the program. Gibbs is going to be very good. I would not be surprised to see him leapfrog Farrell during the conference season. He is in no way the athlete Jackson was, but he comes in as a better shooter and defender and he operates on the floor much more like a natural point guard. Mooney has a lot of similarities to Pat Garrity. I'm not saying he will be an All-American at any point, but he looks like a guy who will cause all kinds of problems for defenders based upon his versatility. Ryan will end up the best shooter in the conference at some point. Pflueger is the best defender on the team and will get better offensively with more minutes.
I like Burns, as well.
Nobody and I mean nobody is a better defender than Jackson. Also Jackson was one of the best rebounding guards in the nation. That being said we will be decent and qualify for NCAA but will probably go out a little earlier this year. Last year following the previous year was an unexpected achievement.
Both Plueger and Vasturia were better, more consistent defenders.
I am having a hard time thinking they will be any more than average this year. But if the new guys are as good as you project, they may be good by year end.
