I have to hit the sack now as the Irish lead 41-23, but after watching a few games. here's my take:
This team is incredible shooting the 3s, and it's impressive that they are out at NBA range. Remember when college teams all got as close to the line as possible to shoot a 3? That's not the case anymore, and the Irish epitomize that.
This team does have trouble scoring inside, but right now they don't need to. And they will have trouble stopping good big men - that could be a huge problem. And there will be nights the 3 isn't falling, the other team's bigs go wild, and ND can lose by 20. That will happen at least once this year.
Overall defensively, though, the intensity throws teams off their game plans and makes them look out of sync. If this team keeps playing the way it is right now for the rest of the season and makes a normal progression, I look for a pretty good season and a #4 seed or better.
Beachem plays in spurts and will need to step it up against better competition. Farrell has begun to get a little carried away with the ball and is turnover prone. Brey will need to get a 8-9 man rotation when they start playing an ACC schedule.
Colson is the Godfather of this team and Vasturia is his right hand man. ND will be saved by the free throw shooting. They are incredible at the line.
Good win tonight and now the schedule starts.
