The NCAA has approved a waiver allowing junior transfer Jessica Shepard to become immediately eligible to play for Notre Dame.
Shepard, a former Nebraska forward and two-time All-Big Ten selection transferred to Notre Dame over the summer.
Shepard was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2016 and claimed a spot on the all-Big Ten team during each of her two seasons with the Huskers. As a sophomore in 2016-17, she averaged 18.6 points per game and 9.8 rebounds per game, totaling 15 double-doubles.
As a freshman, Shepard set a Big Ten record by being named the freshman rookie of the week 10 times en route to Big Ten Freshman of the Year accolades.
Her eligibility will provide Notre Dame a much needed post presence, as senior All-American Brianna Turner sits out the season recovering from knee surgery.
Shepard gives Notre Dame nine healthy players on scholarship as they open the year.

next year and picks up where she left off. As far as the new girl goes, I hope she plays lights out. I don't know the details but it is common the women rally get hit hard by ACL's and I think I read it is the structure of their knees. They do come back well though.
