Plus they were without Kathryn Westbeld at the start of the season (ankle surgery in the off season). The injuries left them without a point guard, which Muffett handled by committee.
This is, in my opinion, the best coaching job of her stellar, Hall of Fame career.
bench they lost were still replaced by two new starters that were highly ranked players when recruited. In women's basketball it is much easier to survive because there are only about 8 good teams each year. Plus that Shepard girl was an unbelievable transfer who the NCAA allowed to play immediately.

Vaughn is the only freshman; she played in the first 6 games this season before getting hurt and has 4 full years of eligibility left (6 games does not use up a year).
Johnson is a senior and is a glue type player; she does all the little things that often go unseen. She is eligible for another year should she want it.
Thompson was a graduate transfer from Stanford who was supposed to man the point guard position but only got to play 14 games. Her college career is over.
Turner is eligible for another year next season as a graduate student and has said she wants to come back.
You would have spent less time answering your own question that it took you to type the 2 posts here.
