We just lost to a horrible basketball team. Brey didn’t give a shit. He mailed it in. You have to see our guards in person to realize how bad they are.
Our front court is incredibly soft on simple layups.
As poor a performance as I have ever seen against an awful Pitt team. Shameful, really,
I’ve watched Pitt all year. This should have been a 10-15 point win.
Hubb was hideous on defense. Especially with the game on the line.
There is no excuse for this loss. None,
Brey and his staff should be on the hot seat next year. Tired of his excuses.
Brey put on court this yr..If Brey is back, seat should be beyond hot..One of worst products Ive ever seen at ND in any sport..He's been around too long; is stale, complacent and satisfied Time for new blood..

Certainly carried over to the team.
Now, if you had asserted instead that he doesn't have any solutions on the horizon, that would be a just and intelligent point. Frightening that there are currently zero recruits for the class of 2019 committed. Grad transfers are complete hits-and-misses, so anyone banking on that is foolish. Unfortunately, Tre Mitchell is probably more likely to sign with Pitt than ND.
Prentiss Hubb will be fine at the point. He didn't play his senior year of high school and is recovering from ACL surgeries. He can get by his man, has some lift and has a pass-first mindset most of the time. He has the physical skills to compete at the ACC level. Unfortunately, he's stuck next to a kid whose play has regressed to a point I haven't seen in some time. I knew Gibbs would never be a good first or second option on offense, but he was playing so poorly and passively the last half of the season that he was just in there because of injuries. A good case could've been made for starting Goodwin the latter part of the season when it became clear this team wasn't headed anywhere after the conference tournament.
As with the football board, read 95% of the talent evaluation on this forum, take the opposite position, and you'll be fine. This is the place where a regular poster informed me that Pat Connaughton wasn't a good shooter.

Therefore, the most important variable in winning is "caring." Just brilliant.
I was at the game supporting my team.
We did not play well.
Brey did not coach well.
Keep making excuses.
I do point out dumb arguments, even when I agree that Brey did not do a good job this year. Ultimately, stupid arguments against him undercut intelligent ones.
Try making intelligent ones. So far, you've shown me that you're yet another person here who doesn't know anything about basketball and thus you offer up stupid, inane criticisms that go to mind-reading or are so general or vague that anyone could offer them. There's nothing wrong with not knowing much about the sport but nonetheless watching it. There is something wrong with not knowing anything about the sport and then pretending that you have some insight into what's going on or why something or someone is failing.
Until you are paid for your coaching knowledge, you opinion is worth the same as anybody else’s.
You agree brey has done a poor job this year.
All the rest is your pompous bullshit.
You are nobody in the Hoops world.
Just like the rest of us.
Caring whether you win or lose is important. I would think a guy who is as brilliant as you think you are should know that. Try and show a little respect for other people’s opinions.
Everyone wants to win very badly, particularly at this level. It's like Knight said, "Everyone has the 'will to in.' It's about the will to prepare to win."
Not all opinions are created equal. When dumb ones are advanced, it's not only correct, but required to label them accordingly. If labeling a dumb opinion as "dumb" offends you, Internet forums are not for you.

To the point that I've repeatedly posted that the ACC is not the right fit for ND basketball. One of the most striking things about the ACC is how many just boring matchups you see in it night-after-night. Even ND games that used to be ones that you'd really get fired up for, like Syracuse, feel flat. The matchups with Pitt were a big deal in the Big East, too. Now, even if Dixon was still there and Pitt was decent again, it would be the same way. Duke-UNC matchups and the occasional matchups with the right opponent against UVa generate similar feelings to those days, but little else.
I'm not sure anyone cares. Team mailed in the season weeks ago.
Oh well, at least we have a shiny new practice facility that will undoubtedly help attract the blue chip recruits.
Finished right at the bottom of the ACC and ended with a 7 game losing streak.
Coach Fran hasn't set the world on fire at Iowa, but he is a good coach and usually gets his team to the Tournament. His teams usually have more fire than ND. He's not a great recruiter. No question, though: he gets on his guys much more than Brey and every team needs some of that. It's no accident that Brey's best defensive teams have been when he has had an assistant in this mold, like when they had Cross. He'd ream the players out for lax defense coming into a timeout. You have to have a consistent defense to be a FInal Four team. You have to be consistent defensively to get to the Tournament year-after-year, for that matter. It can't depend on having the right assistant or having Ben Hansbrough or Rob Kurz. Those types of guys have to be present on the roster every year.
I love what Mick Cronin has done at Cincy, but I doubt ND would be a step up for him.
Maybe there's a current Big East coach who would be interested? Ed Cooley? But would he be seen as an improvement, if at all?
