Notre Dame simply couldn't get enough good looks due to Duke's far superior athleticism. I have noticed that this is a hallmark of Brey's teams, that when faced against superior athletes, his teams struggle to find good shots.
Salbam noted that ND couldn't get any offensive rebounds. Well of course not, when every time a shot goes up you send everyone immediately back on defense. Brey didn't even try to get any offensive rebounds, while Duke often had 2-3 crashing the offensive boards.
I like Brey as a coach. I really do. But his team was out-athleted big-time again tonight, and that's something skill and Xs andn Os can't overcome most of the time.

are slow and methodical and easily locked down by athletic defensive minded teams.

Brey must be petrified that if he sends a couple of guys to crash the boards that Duke would have easy run-outs. That may or may not be true; have to at least try to rebound to see if it is.
tough ones. Ryan is the toughest rebounder on the team but lacks width, he is still good at it though. Goodwin sound fundamentals even on the boards but is undersized. At least Atkinson has post moves and puts up a fight. Laczewski is just soft.
