Typical throughout Brey's tenure. Get a big 2nd-half lead and the other team ALWAYS makes a comeback. I mean, it never fails. Why?
Anyway, they did withstand the Miami furious comeback and did beat a very good team. And with victories over North Carolina and Virginia, as long as this team beats the teams it should, I don't see how they're left out of the tourney this year.
Notre Dame had only 4 teams fouls well under a minute to go. Why in the world did they not foul the Hurricanes before they had the opportunity to take a shot? A major time-eater that Brey didn't use.
ND gets a big second half lead and as the half runs down they stop running their offense. Hubb typically runs the clock down and then takes a bad shot. As a result, we stop scoring and the other team catches up. Another problem is when we are ahead late in the game and the other team has to foul, we don't get the ball inbounds to the better free throw shooters. We miss too many free throws also allowing the other team to catch up. Last night it was an inbound to Wesley who is a 60 something percent free throw shooter and he missed the front end of a one and one. Get the ball in to Goodwin.
takes them out of rhythm ending in a bad/rushed shot or TO. And missing the front end
of 1 and 1's leave you on the edge of your seat. Thankfully they have been able to
hang on in most of these games. The NCAA tourney (if they make it) is a different animal
and this type of play will get you 1 and done.
And horrible shot selection/clock management.
those three threes got us a decent lead. Atkinson playing superbly and Ryan is ten times the tough rebounder that Laczewski is not. Yet, I don't see how Ryan can look so good going up for a three and hit so few. I hope Wesley starts playing like we know he can.
