Somebody lend me a hand here. Is it possible that the only player who ages out at the end of this season is Atkinson? Good grief! It seems like the others have been here forever! Who is able to come back and who cannot? And - of those eligible - who do you think will ?
If any of the ND seniors are allowed and are willing to comeback, I would take them all. Look at Providence this year. They are an 'old' team based on transfers and 3 to 5 year players. Players like Wesley are seldom walking thru the recruiting door. This transformation of college B-ball and football takes away the instant need for kids being able to play their first year.
There is talk of trying to get the Ivy League grad transfers another year of eligibility. Jim Boeheim just stated that he will pursue an extra year for Jimmy Boeheim, who is doing well at Syracuse. Noie or someone mentioned that the idea has been floated for Atkinson, too, but then, who knows if Atkinson will be interested? I think he's 24 years-old. You start getting into the BYU/Mormon mission type-situation, where you have guys with wives and kids playing with 18 year-olds. ND seems to attract a lot of kids to the program who are mature beyond their years, but it still must be awkward sometimes when you're about to hit your mid-twenties and you're spending all that time with teammates who just left high school.
that he fought for rebounds and had great moves around the basket. So anti Laczewski.
How can you ever build a program with this type of format. I remember when Brey recruited all these so-called Juniors...now actually Seniors. They've done very little. You cannot go far in the tourney - assuming you even make the tourney - and the back of 3 point shooting. We are seeing some maturation...but it has taken a long-long time. I feel bad for those kids on the bench who never get any PT.

I believe every b-ball player picked up a year of eligibility due to COVID. But, I still think all graduating seniors would have to be in grad school?
who returns.
