Mike Brey’s career truly ended by Dane Goodwin.

Mike Brey was a legend, but when you recruit a kid that continues year after year to show no intensity and effort on the defensive side of the ball - these types of seasons become normal. I truly feel sorry for Mike Brey.

about his future often and recently reached a "mutual conclusion" that the head coach would retire at year's end.” “ mutual conclusion “ love that statement from Jack. No and or or here.
Catholic schools have had an immense historic impact in men’s college hoops. The list of national champions is long: Villanova three times; San Francisco twice; Georgetown, Marquette, Loyola Chicago, La Salle and Holy Cross once apiece. Several others have advanced to the NCAA tournament title game: Gonzaga (twice), Seton Hall, Dayton, Seattle, St. John’s.

Notre Dame? Never. The most athletically accomplished and ambitious of all Catholic schools traipsed into that one Final Four in 1978 and lost to Duke, which then lost to Kentucky for the title. And the Irish have never been back since.

intense enough and his fundamentals carried him sometimes but when someone got him in a bad position, he was not athletic nor strong enough to be an effective defender. Ryan is the only one of the group who could possibly take his game further.

Brey knew the personality types he was getting with Goodwin and Laszewski.

One thing I don't see mentioned was the huge loss of Robby Carmody to injuries. In contrast to his classmates, he was super-intense and had skills, and the best basketball instincts of the bunch. As Theismanncarr always says, he "made basketball plays."
