Not impressed so far but the cupboard was bare.

I agree, but I am not sure about his coaching
The complaint about Brey was his teams played poor defense. I haven't seen much from Shrewsbury to indicate his coaching style will change much there. If they lose Burton after this season, it isn't encouraging next year's squad can be any more than a talented .500 team.
