B/c he had a couple of decent years at basketball powerhouse Penn State? B/c he's buddies with Brad Stevens?
He deserved a pass on his first season, but he brought in NO ONE from the portal in the off-season to help this team succeed this year. 2 of the transfers (Nikita, Chebuhar) never even play. A good recruiting class has bought MS one more year but anymore of this bullshit & Pete Bevacqua needs to start looking for a replacement.

Highly regarded by other coaches. I'm not saying they were correct, but unlike the football hire,
ND did use a third-party service to complile a list of candidates. In truth, the guy who apparently didn't make the list, but reached out to ND with interest, Greg McDermott, might have brought the most stability and capability to put forth a decent squad right away. He has a ton of experience that Shrews does not.
