we are a spread team, so we aren't going to consistently power/pound it up the middle, it's just not going to be a strength of this offense.
But this offense can be amazing if we just always remember to sprinkle the correct amount of runs in to keep the D honest.

Kelly plans on using him right out of the gate. As a Fr. That is rare for Kelly, as it was for Holtz.. remember, the Rocket was 5'10. I never seen a player remind me of Rocket in 25 years.. the impact player he was. Constantly sent in motion.. a decoy they had to account for as we ran it down there throat With Rodney Culver.. folston and bryant will eat up yards with C.J in the slot, Fuller wide. The threat of Malik running.. tight end U! a Strong line..we should score no less then 40 a game. kelly having the slot guy he wanted will make him more comfortable running the spread ... when he gets into a rythem calling plays he can become genuis like..
C.J has legit 4.3 speed.. but its not just speed. Its football speed. He reminds me of Ismail, his running style.. ive never seen that in a player not since... well, rocket himself.thats why im so optimistic about his future if he stays healthy. He could tip the scales in our favor to win it all. As did Rocket in 88.
Kelly is going to play him. Kelly is very high on him.. Very high on him he is on record as reffering to him as " the first true Slot reciever he has had since Roby Toma" that speaks volumes of his intentions to get him in the mix. C.J is going to become an All American because of it.
My fear wasnt that hes 5'9. Its that kelly wouldnt play him. take my word.. Kelly will play him.. and C.J Sanders will emerdge. And tip the scales towards another National Title ..the dynamic that puts notre dame over the top.. clemson on the road is the toughest game.. must beat Texas... because we are going to destroy USC. Go undefeated as Tyrone Willingham goes crazy mad. All because he cant sabatoge us out of the playoffs with the other trader Condaleeza Rice. It was bad enough for domers last year when we fell to #10 after FSU. Talk about out of our minds... redemption is long overdue. 25 years i never seen a player remind me of the Rocket until now Chris. That is why I just have a feeling we are finally gonna stick it to TY and every other hater in the country. Every hater and moron that had a smile on their face when Bama beat us.. C.J Sanders is the momentum shift. Game changer, pace setter. He will keep the defenses more then honest, hes going to leave them with all their ankles broken
According to this he was 5'11" ...the difference between 5'11" with lightening speed and 5'9" with just really good speed is pretty big.
But that's besides the point, regardless how tall/good/fast he is, no WR helps a passing team keep a defense honest.
Rocket was a WR who helped keep defenses honest because we were a running team back then and his elite ability kept opposing defenses from stacking the box as much which opened up the run game, which was what we really wanted to do.
Rocket himself reborn wouldn't come to this current team and keep defenses honest, unless he was playing RB and we actually gave him carries. We are a passing team, its what Kelly prefers. Keeping the defense honest in our current case means running the ball enough that they have to always respect it, thus opening up the pass for more success which is ultimately what Kelly wants to do.
So regardless how good Sanders ends up being vs how good you think he is, he is NOT going to help us keep defenses honest, that is unless he is coming here to play RB.

We dont have a problem keeping the D honest. We just dont run a balance offense. Chris Brown did just that in 2012 and it worked cause Riddick and Wood were used A LOT more than Folston and Bryant have been.
Im excited to see Sanders but hes not bringing speed the team doesnt already have; Carlisle, Brown, Fuller, Prosise. Hes keeping the speed inventory stocked.
your comment that we don't have a problem keeping the D honest is completely false.
Do we already have the players to keep the D honest? Sure, but when you don't use your stud RBs enough to make the D respect the run every play, you aren't balanced and you aren't keeping the D honest.
This lies with Kelly's play calling though, not with our personnel.
