The minimum standard should be no less that 1 national championship every 8 years.
like Alabama has, although his recruiting has given us an opportunity to get to the playoffs. Double digit wins should be the expectation now. Not the expectation his first two years and not the expectation when Rees had to start for the year. remember Lou Holtz, one of my favorite coaches, had 4 straight number 1 ranked recruiting classes and we won 1 and were in the hunt in 2 others. So to say a minimum of 1 championship every 8 years is difficult when you consider Alabama, Ohio State, FSU, Michigan and even USC seem to beat us every and a few others have beaten us in recruiting the last 25 years or so. We can have a chance every third year I would say, to get to the final four, especially now that we are trending to better classes again. Last years senior class was iffy. This year has been bad by the defense but only barely bad elsewhere. A bad no call in the opener, an unfortunate bounce off a player against MSU and poor execution by Kizer at times and Yoooon missing a very makeable field goal and kicking off short too often.
9-4 or worse is a disappointment. 10-3 is not bad. 11-2 is really good. 12-1 or better is fantastic. So by that measure, Brian Kelly's teams have had 1 fantastic season. 1 season deemed not bad. The rest have been disappointments. The best that can happen this year is a "not bad" rating. Obviously, that is a "long shot" if you are being nice.
