Another name sources expressed to FootballScoop that could be a match for Oregon is Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly. Though reports emerged over the weekend that Kelly was interested elsewhere were met with extreme denials from both sides, we continue to hear Notre Dame would be willing to negotiate an exit from the 6-year extension Kelly signed just last year should the right opportunity arise.
The same stories go round and round and round on the internet.
As for ND willing to "let Kelly go" stuff, it could easily be a few media savy trustees spreading their own personal gospel, right or wrong.
As for Oregon, 1) Phil Knight is far too smart and connected to let Oregon hire Kelly, and 2) if you look at the history of hiring at Oregon they tend to look at younger, up-and-coming guys (i.e., Fleck etc) rather than a guy like Kelly.
Kelly won't be going to Oregon.
I personally don't think Kelly is going anywhere voluntarily and I doubt Swarbrick wants to openly fire him. The only chance we have is for Kelly to pull a Meyer and leave for health/family reasons. If that is possibly true, then the two parties are working through the details. ND isn't going to pay him out his term conditions and Kelly wants to milk the cow for as much as he can get. I would suspect it is an uneasy stalemate with ND/Kelly hoping for a somewhat non-embarrassing departure for Kelly since ND would hardly be taking much heat for dumping him.
But I also think there is a significant chance that he does lead the team out of the tunnel in fall 2017..

coaching candidates for Oregon and BK wasn't one of them.
You give this guy a six year extension and then have to cut him loose less than one year later. What does this say about the BOT, Jenkins, and Swrabrick. I would rather have the front office staff from the Browns picking the next coach than the clowns we have.
