Even if Kelly is retained, what new assistants would come knowing it might be a one year gig at best. I assumed Booker would have been let go by now but his strength must be recruiting. Just do not see any positive scenarios going forward. The fans hate him, Swrabrick is married to him, he has thrown everyone under the bus, and new candidates will shy away from coming here. Brady Hoke is my only guess for a hire. He can recruit the midwest against the likes of Mich. and OSU.
We are ******.

If Kelly stays, and it looks like he's staying, the only way I see it working is if he is forced to hire good assistants, including a top-notch DC.

Let the new HC hire decent assistants and S&C Director
Hopefully Elston is retained in some capacity so he can continue to be recruiting coordinator. As far as Lyght, Gilmore and Hudson...it depends on how they fit with the next DC. The new hire needs to make that decision.
Offense just needs changing of responsibilities. Sanford needs to be handed keys and made a real offensive coordinator. Denbrock can maybe do WRs and TEs since he won't be involved in playcalling? Denson and Hiestand need to be retained.
Also changes are needed in the S&T program, but I don't know enough about what is exactly wrong to guess who or what the problem is. Is it Longo? Quinn?
Lipstick on a pig.
coach next year. Assistants can come and go, but if Kelly honestly believes the team is just a snap or two away from a winning season, he's delusional. If he says spring and fall camps will be more of the same, then 2017 is going to suck, and it doesn't matter who surrounds him.
Kelly hasn't thrown his assistants under the bus. He's pretty loyal in that respect.
I think most people would like to get paid for three years and only work for one.
For your resume, it'd be almost impossible not to show some turnaround next year.
