The possibilities in decreasing order, with the most likely outcome being Kelly leading the team out of the tunnel in the fall
1. Uncomfortable status quo: Kelly won't quit now, expects to have a new job come January
2. Termination decision already made, negotiations going on re: terms
3. Swarbrick is giving Kelly time to walk away on his own, terms being discussed
4. Swarbrick already has his guy but team is still playing and doesn't want to announce.
5. Swarbrick is actively looking and isn't going to fire Kelly unless he has to, reference point 2. Least possible because hard to imagine how this could be kept quiet.
If Kelly stays, let the empty stands do the talking. ND doesn't pay attention to anything but money.
There is a small chance that Swarbrick himself may be the issue to but I really don't believe that is in play.

I mean, I think most agree that Kelly isn't the long term answer, but it wouldn't shock you if they started 3-0, 4-0 would it? Shouldn't we wait to see if they are good first?

1) I never suggested 'boycotting' games. Like with any part of my discretionary income, I don't pay filet prices for hamburger quality. If ND is content to present Kelly as the head coach with this product, I have better places to spend my money. I'll certainly watch/listen to games. But like many businesses, ND (and ND is morst like politicians when it comes to their $$) only pays attention to many issues when it hits the pocketbook or image. Empty seats in a fancy 'new' stadium should be a strong touchpoint to stop doing the hokey pokey.
2) If Georgia or USC fans (at least in 2017) outroot us in our home stadium then ND only has to look in the mirror as to why.
I certainly enjoy going to the game to see old friends and enjoy a good game day atmosphere but as the cost of attending what is a day long event has gone up as ND gouges it's fans with a worse and worse overall product while charging ever increasing prices to sit in row 2 or row 125 in the end zone( for the last 5 years), it doesn't seem to be quite as enjoyable an experience. It seems stupid to me to keep doing it as often as I do.
People have already not been going and there is ample evidence (i.e.,easy to buy tickets for $20 30 minutes before the game) that the sell out streak is already over no matter what the ND Admin says. ND has such a hard time selling tickets they've had to formally engage a "secondary seller." Even at the two games I went to this year, Stanford and Miami (two decent teams by the way), I had plenty of room to spread myself. At one of the games, I went with 2 other pretty large people and my son, sat next to another very large person and we were able to spread 4 of us across 7 seats and my son actually sat behind is two empty seats.
So yes, I will 'vote' with my presence and my pocketbook. That doesn't mean I don't support the team or ND, just that a message has to be sent.

Some teams can't even fill up the 5K or whatever they get now.
Regardless, no team is filling up a crazy number if you got it far enough.
So do you think empty seats would be best way to affect change, or would cutting donations be better?
Is the endowment growing or shrinking?
Has the physical plant (ie facilities) grown or shrunk?
Has the academic standing of the university increased or decreased?
I dont really think the performance of the football team impacts the financial stability of the university in a large manner at all
Sad but true.....

Could they be waiting for early enrollees to enroll? Just a thought I had today while I was pooping....

I think the Hamilton TigerCats need a HC . . . for the practice squad.
