Link: Will Brandon Wimbush's Work with Whitfield Pay Off? Does it Matter?
If he were that great, he'd be a QB coach on a team that consistantly had great QB play.
Having Wimbush work with him over the break has a lot of pluses. First, he's still working on his craft so he shouldn't lose anything with the big break between spring practices. Second, he's there. Probably more important than number 1 because it's an indication of desire on his part. Third, even if the guy isn't amazing, he's still probably better than hanging out on the beach and throwing a ball around with spring breakers. I doubt we'll see any big improvements because of this, but even the smaller improvements begin to add up.
The life of a football coach is not always glamorous. The recruiting grind is tireless and the hours are ridiculous. I'm sure Whitfield's camps aren't cheap so he gets to run those and be an ESPN commentator without the crazy hours. Its for the same reasons the at Gruden never got back into coaching. He has a sweet gig with ESPN that keeps him in football without having to work a 100 hour work week.
