Eric Hansen has a great piece on Torii Hunter today and how the blatant targeting call that never got made in the Texas game led to his decision to pursue baseball instead of a professional football career. Still can't get over that not being called after some of the BS ones called on Notre Dame like the Fertitta hit against USC. Add it to the open season the refs allowed on Kizer's head in the VT game and it just seems like we always end up on the wrong side of targeting calls.

Obvious ones like against Kizer and Hunter are not called and several ticky-tack ones have been called against ND.
closer than it would have been.
This link is in the Hunter article but think it deserves to be read independently. Was surprised there were "only" 99 called after review as it seems like I saw about 20 just channel surfing games of interest.
To me FB rules are like laws in that everyone should (ideally) know what is illegal even though the reality of a specific situation can be pretty grey (think insider trading which is the most muddled I've read about). In that context the NCAA has done a terrible job of implementing what is a pretty simple and easy to understand concept
