Is it mandatory to pay the "gift" fee, in order to purchase season tickets?
I know there is a ticket board, but it doesn't seem to get as much attention as this one.
The home schedule is a joke outside of Georgia and USC.

of game day and watching their Irish play.
Everyone on this board knows that you think it's crap that ND doesn't play a top 20 team every week (or when you are going to the game). But you, thankfully, are not everyone.
And I feel the game day atmosphere pales in comparison to what it once was.
That being said, if others wish to pay a premium price to see those games, in that atmosphere, then more power to them.
I never thought I'd see the day that Notre Dame would have to solicit anyone for football tickets.
Albany wasn't complaining about how they are selling the product. He was, once again, complaining about the balanced scheduling.
He seems to feel that his dollar is worth more than fielding a successful football team or player safety.
He and the rest of those that feel ND should play a top 20 team every week (so they get bang for their buck) should stay home. Let those that love the Irish and care about their success and safety go to the games and have a great time.
15-20 years ago I knew alums who were getting shut out of tickets to games. When the product was great tickets were so hard to come by. Not anymore. The product is garbage. The leadership is garbage and now the stadium is garbage. Years ago I would fork over tons. Now, tickets are easy to get and I'm putting my money elsewhere in life. It's sad.
The secondary market, more seats, better TV's, internet access, etc.
Ticket sales and attendance are down across the board in the NFL for the same reason.
Also, you don't remember this 15-20 years ago because the internet wasn't much of a thing back then.
Meanwhile, ND produces alumni at roughly the same rate.
While the product on the field is a factor, I think the stadium size is a factor, too.
It's still a great experience for a lot of people.

My wife asked why I don’t attend class reunions. I told her that these events are sophisticated, subtle, sublime fund raising events.
I must admit that most of these have been creative. The best was they sent a mailing dealing with the Catholic viewpoint of death, the laugh was on the last page they had an advertisement for their cemetery.
I also remember attending my son's Junior Parent day, where some Padre asked us to sponsor a tree on campus. When i got home, I mailed them an acorn, and asked that they select the location to plant.
Place is pure comedy. I would love to see a SNL episode about ND's fundraising
