10.47 in ACC 100m finals good for 6th. Also, missed 200 finals by .001.

If you adjust for zero wind, this is a 10.60ish time, which is what he's been running all season and what he ran in the prelims.
Still fast, but the difference between in 10.60 and 10.47 is about 4 feet.

collective Notre Dame fan base. For example: "Well, I'm thrilled ND went undefeated this year BUT we only won
10 of those games by 3 points or less so we are not that dominant." This is only a fabricated example. See what I mean?
Your post kinda hit me in this same vein. Sorry.
The legitimacy of times in track is a big deal, when everything is considered. Running surface, wind conditions, timing mechanisms, altitude. Once you've had a record or two taken away because of these considerations, it gets ingrained.
So I look at a time like that, which would be a big PR for him, and my first thought is "what is the wind?" And like I said, the difference between a 10.60 sprinter and a mid to high 10.4 sprinter is pretty big. So I like to give context. Didn't intend to come across as knocking him.

I guess the post was more about how fast the kid is versus is he faster than another. Where if that was the case, comparing times and winds and surfaces would matter. I would totally be on board with you there.
But here..it was really just about celebrating what he's done as a freshman sprinter. Getting to the finals in a conference like the ACC in both Outdoor and Indoor seasons is quite the feat...only SEC and PAC12 are probably tougher.
Ultimately...the dude has beyond elite speed.

He's one of the top sprinters in the ACC and one of the 100 sprinters in the Nation.
What the heck does bringing up +2.6 wind do? Are you really questioning his speed?? WHY? 4-time state champion in 3 different sprints? Now in the ACC finals for both indoor and outdoor season.
He's one of the fastest football players in the country.
Please....this is ridiculous.
His time was wind-aided. That's a fact.
And there is a significant difference between a true 10.47 and a wind-aided 10.61. Like I said, four feet.
I give him full credit for his accomplishments. I think if we were to ask him he'd acknowledge he's a 10.60 sprinter, which he should be happy with.
Downhill on roller skates.

but because it was a regional meet it did not count as a state record. Track is an unremitting sport. As Rocket correctly notes if it is wind-aided, you get an "a" after the time. But it's all relative. Troy is damn fast, and in one of the 2 best/deepest conferences in the country. (Big 12 has some great programs but not depth). What makes Troy special is he excels in 2 events and is a big-time 2 sport athlete as a frosh.
Pride's 60m 6.77 is better than GAIII (6.85)
Pride's 200m 21.28 is better than GAIII's 21.30 200m.
Pride's 100m at 10.46 is only thing lesser to GAIII's 10.39 100m
Team has speed...need to start acting like it.
