Offense looks to be potentially great, defense looks suspect.
The key difference, though, is that Brian Kelly has a good DC that seems to have a good head on his shoulders, and as long as we can at least slow opposing defenses down, then there's no reason why Brian Kelly shouldn't get to a high end bowl game at the end of the season.
Charlie Weis, on the other hand, put too much trust in the short-sighted Jon Tenuta...

This team has more talent, and unlike Weis who didn't make significant changes to his staff after 2008, Kelly has totally revamped his staff.
Also, Kelly doesn't have as many institutional hurdles as Weis had (no training table).
