I hadn't looked there in several months, so i don't know what has been going on up until now. But based on today's sampling, the same old sorry shits have just gotten more bitter.
The problem starts at the top with the board ops themselves, and trickles down to the people that they have culled over time to nurse on their sour milk. They will be wrinkled prunes by the time that they are fifty.
We have an ongoing problem at our program, for sure. Kelly should have been fired, and Swarbrick's fitness has to be questioned based on his inability/unwillingness to extricate us from Kelly. But even so, these guys are just bad for the program in all ways.
They have been walled off from the majority of alumni, but they still sit out there with the Notre Dame name on their site - embarassing our school with the unofficial use of it's name.
They remind me of the guys who are addicted to one of the cable news networks (take your pick on whichever side), where everyday, it's the same depressing, negative crap over, and over, and over. And when something great DOES happen for ND, they say, "I never said otherwise, and knew that this could happen".
I feel sorry for the people that should have been accepted in their spots at my alma mater.

In years gone by, the glass was full and we turned recruits of immense talent away. With all the transferring out and our coaches cutting their chins falling down with last minute recruits, they just might be right. Face fact, not what you think is "OK" for ND.
Other than times people from here have told me to read something specific there, I haven't been for years.
Stop feeding the beast and give them what they hate the worst, and deserve the most, irrelevancy.
Otherwise you just reaffirm that they have some relevancy.
To the alumni, true ND fans, subway alumni, the school, etc, etc..Last week, one of the grad owners said his bitterness toward his university just increases by the day..Why dont these miserable souls just go away..If you visit a PSU website, all the scandal that school has been thru, all you will find is total support for the school..
The worst part about these supposed ND grads, is that they set a very negative tone, with all the sycophants adding their "ditto', agreeance', "outstanding', etc, etc posts
I very rarely check that drivel, but on rare occasions, I do, I exit fast..what a bunch of nerds..Totally disloyal to their alma mater, who need them..
As for me, I never miss a ND game, and wont this season..GO IRISH!...I expect a fun ride..
I did learn all about why i should hate ND though.

I only have one question for you. Did you graduate from Notre Dame? Please be rest assured that I do not pose this question as some sort of barometer for your love or passion for ND. Nor do I pose this question to measure your qualifications for posting on such topics as Notre Dame football. I have read your contributions to this board for some time and have enjoyed all postings you have provided the group. My interest is only in charting those ND alums who "follow the flock" of ND-nation and those alums who realize it is a barren wasteland of mindless, obtuse cyborgs. So please do not be offended. My inquisition is purely a sociological one.

I used to have an account over there and would post from time to time. Once I fully understood how inane the entire board was becoming I contacted the Board Ops asking to be removed from the forum. This was easily 5-6 years ago. When the site began in the 90's, it was a good place to discuss ND football. It has now become a place where individuals ignore their own opinions and yield to the almighty, insular board ops. Those who fall out of line in expelling the verbal diarrhea are immediately ejected from participation. I agree with you, what a horrid experience it must be to live in such a manner.
You could have simply stopped posting there, or reading anything there. Except you chose a passive aggressive righteous way to make a statement, hoping you'd be missed there. And hoping for board ops to beg you to stay. Guess what - they don't miss you.
If you find peace and comfort in a board more accommodating to a pollyanna point of view - then this is your place.
Let me ask you this - in your view:
Is the ND football team on field performance over the past 5 years acceptable?
Is ND player off field behavior over the past 5 years acceptable?
Is the head coach sideline behavior over the past 5 years acceptable?
Is the evolution of the game day experience (piped in music, midget Irish Guard, smoke machines, turf, jumbotron, down in front, on-field awards at every TV break, outrageous ticket pricing, outrageous parking pricing, etc) acceptable?
Can the ND football program be described as one that carries itself with grace, humility, and the unrelenting pursuit of excellence?
Is the performance of the Athletic Director acceptable?
Are you proud of ND football?
If the answer to any of the above is yes, then this is the right board for you. If you answered no to the above, the you have a lot more in common with the crowd at NDN than you are willing to admit.
And you don't have to be a "pollyanna" to see NDN as a cesspool.
I never hoped to have anyone "asking me to stay." Furthermore, I had no delusions of some individual saying "please stay" when I made my decision. I knew I didn't want to participate anymore. And I simply preferred, for whatever reason, to have my info taken off their list. Nothing more, nothing less. I've always been one to shy away from "narrow-mindedness." It it is rampant over there. Just a personal preference. As for this site. I enjoy it because I see opinions that range from the supremely optimistic to the downright hopeless. If you have paid attention to anything I have contributed over the years, one could describe my point of view as jaded to say the least. The beauty of this board and all forms of discussion is that you can learn about others as well as yourself since we all have "blind spots." I know I have them. To reference this forum as some sort of Pollyanna is imprecise, counterfactual and unreasonable. As you were.
the twats over at NDN.
The difference is that we don't systematically stalk and harass people who choose to be more positive.
Many on this board has been critical of the results of the team and Kelly and are not happy with the direction of the program. But discussions here on subjects about the jumbotron and the changes to the stadium don't devolve in gutter trash posts--actually discussions there don't devolve at all since they start there.
The other board's incessant debasing of everything Swarbrick, Crossroads, and every ND policy/practice they disagree with (which is about 90% of them) is blindly myopically obsessive to their own narrow point of view which doesn't permit varying from their "true path." I don't like some of the things that go on but I don't think anyone here, much less Board Ops here, deign to be the determiner of everything ND must do to conform to what NDN's compulsion of what is right and just for ND to do and be. I don't post there anymore because you cannot engage in any kind of reasonable discussion before you get derisively attacked by board minions and hacks who are protected by Board Ops and allowed to say anything (much in violation of the allegedly sacred Board rules which apply to those who Ops want to apply to) in defense of 'the way, the truth and the light.'
The interesting posts about players and the team that UHND presents and subsequent discussions (yes I think the UHND articles are a little mamby pamby at times but I appreciate the efforts to educate) simply aren't allowed at NDN since they don't start with the basic assumptions --- that Kelly sucks, he recruits 2nd class recruits and makes them worse, Swarbrick is gutter tripe, and anything that might be different than what is was when they were in school (the biggest chunk of the regulars there are Holtz era folks) is just bad and wrong.
Anyone who objectively reads NDN (and I've talked to many ND fans over the years) knows exactly their frame of reference and read it with great amusement. The closest parallel is sort of like CNN's effective practices/views re: Trump: only one viewpoint is allowed.
Like I've always said, it is their site and they can run it anyway they like but the notion that this board is pollyanna and NDN board is realistic in demanding pursuit of excellence is a crock of shit.
They are narcissist jackasses that think they are somehow the guardians of the program and what is right and wrong about it. I fart in their general direction.
Several thoughts:
Just as knuterockne13 didn't need to contact the board ops to leave "hoping that they would beg him to stay", you too don't need to bother ND Administration. You too could simply leave. And guess what, they won't miss you either.
Real Notre Dame men don't use the term "pollyanna", or any of other jargon generated by the high school level social clique that you think of as NDN.
We also don't feel the need to try to impress others with our sophistication and education. Thus we don't discuss "sartorial style", we don't brag about what wine we prefer, and we don't feel that the size of our penis is reflected by how tall the Irish Guard are.
You prove my very point with your post. Paraphrasing, you say, "If you are not unhappy with all of these things (jumbotron, field turf, smoke machine), then UHND is the place for you". In other words, if you are not an unhappy bitter little bitch who thinks exactly the same as everyone else at NDN, then you shouldn't be there". You are exactly right. But
has it ever struck you as odd that your NDN site is the only one that isn't "pollyanna"?
At this far gone stage, you and your crew really DO loathe Notre Dame. When was the last time you posted anything positive about Notre Dame or bragged to a friend about them?
Yes, we have a problem with Kelly IMO, but your site only compounds the problem. What a great and simple thing it is for recruiting opponents to send our targets to your site.
Of course, the kid would expect to see some criticism - but every single post, every single day - from our own supposed fans & alumni?
You and NDN are a bigger problem than most of the things that you listed.
It used to be a wonderful site with some interesting insights but that has all disappeared.
Like I've always said "their board, their rules" which is fine but they have become so insulated that they don't even realized that they hypocritically enforce their rules very frequently against folks who don't agree with their orthodoxy while openly condoning overt abuse by those in favor. The powers-that-be often rationalize being able to post abuse as somehow having been earned. And one sure way of getting banned is to point this hypocrisy out to them.
Anyone who posts anything that challenges their orthodoxy is quickly and nastily attacked in terms that violate their own rules while they quickly ban anyone who might politely disagree on specious grounds.
Nothing more to say in that the term "Kelly lover" is a term used approvingly with great derision while "Kelly hater" is not allowed.
That's a dark time to be visiting such a dark place.

Totally agreed! Nothing but a bunch whining little cry babies. I lived thru all the bad years with the Cubs and so did all the true Cub fans and I will always root for ND in both good times and bad. Keep the faith ND fans and eventually we will get it right, just like the Cubs did and I don't think it will take us 108 yrs. either.
Their only joy will come when ND wins 13 games for 10 seasons in a row and at least 5 NCs. Ain't gonna happen in our lifetime. As soon as ND goes a God-awful 12-1 the vile bile will start all over. Do yourself a favor----stay here and never lose hope.
