Link: Notre Dame Recruiting: Can Brian Kelly Solve His Five Star Problem?
Obviously ND can do better, but I find it interesting that Nyles Morgan, Quenton Nelson, Alize Mack, Tommy Kraemer and Daelin Hayes don't make the cut per your criteria, although I know all were 5* per some sites.
The only one who was truly borderline was Kraemer, he was the 28th national recruit by composite, and the top 25 were 5 stars.
Without question, as fine an example of the perfect ND scholar/athlete as we could ever imagine. But, as a five star with his eyes on the pot of gold at the end of the NFL rainbow would he have even considered our school today? And if not... what a loss for all those who have benefitted from his post football life!
this. Kelly routinely gets more out of a two star then he does a 5*. His style seems to be one of ingraining in kids heads they "don't know how to play the game right" unless they do it his way.
5*'s still need to learn but a lot of them get by on talent. They play with swag. You have to cut them lose and let them play. Kelly's ego is too big to allow this. He wants to demoralize and tear them down first. Until Kelly's attitude and handling of confident kids changes, 5*'s at ND will continue to underwhelm.

Correct. One of Kelly's attributes is his proclivity to regress the skills of his recruits. Bringing in 5 stars will make them 2 stars, if they stick around until senior year.
So I think what you are saying is not correct

At least the unknown will be something to look forward to.
