I'm sure he's a helluva guy.
Stanford, USC, and Georgia, and Miami are going to be tough, and Michigan State could certainly pose a problem as well. Winning two out of the five isn't improbable at all, and three of the five is still quite possible.
If Brian Kelly can't get at least 9 wins with this team, he should be booted out. No more mulligans. This is his team, his players, his development, and he's had plenty of time to get used to being on the same playground as the big boys. With the exception of the DT situation, he has a healthy roster of developed players on both sides of the ball.

Ask the average fan if they are cool with 9-3, they'd probably say yes.
But in the scenario laid out by this guy, Notre Dame is 8-1 going to Miami, who he assumes is a good team, and Notre Dame is probably inside the top 10.
A loss to Miami probably drops them a few spots, lets call it 14th. Then they beat Navy, and then lose to Stanford AGAIN, who he assumes is a good team. Now they've gone 1-2 in the last three, with two losses at night, on the road, in probable marquee games. Now they are somewhere near 20th.
What are fans saying at that point? How would we be feeling? All the talk about the strength program and Notre Dame would have fallen apart again in November. And they'd be a bowl game loss away from going 9-4, the same as they were in 2013 with Tommy Rees and they'd be spinning their wheels round and round.
Then what?
anything less than 11-1 is inexcusable. Its year 8. Get your shit together.

They have the best QB we are going to face this year also.
maybe 10-2. Unfortunately we have a team that really needs to focus each week. I'd take my chances at 6-0 and see what happens. As much as I hate Michigan they really got shafted against Ohio State and then Iowa, who they were clearly better than. I am sure that left a bitter taste in their mouths. If we start 6-0, 9-3 would definitely make us bitter and 10-2 would not make us real happy.

9-3 against this schedule would be very good, provided losses are Georgia, USC and Stanford.Don't know what people expect. Going undefeated anywhere is tough, even for Bama who has best chance provided they beat FSU.
