And he was right! I mean, just contemplate his earnings per victory.
But that aside, this is on Kelly And Swarbrick.

ever. We are just not quite that good yet. Wimbush has a strong arm and great legs but he does not see the field well yet both passing and hitting the holes running. He could have scored going up the middle in the last game and took it wide and we ended up with a field goal on one occasion.

Few people were talking about Alabama football (outside of Alabama) before Saban came along either. And when he leaves, and they (hopefully) drop into a giant sinkhole, nobody will talk as much about them then either.
But I'm not sure what that means.
If you want to know the status of a football program, look at two things: (1) how much hype the program gets when it wins a few games, and (2) how much fans from other teams hate that program. If ND starts a season 3-0, the whole world is inundated with ND football articles. And most of the college football world still hates you guys and roots against you. That means you're not irrelevant.
By contrast, when, say, Oklahoma State is good and is winning, people still don't care. And nobody outside of Oklahoma actually roots for OK State to lose games. Again, people just don't care.
If ND and USC take care of business over the next month, we can all see how irrelevant ND is based on the level of pregame hype.
Why many Notre Dame fans sold their tickets in the first place? Yes, being disgruntled after a 4-8 season is one possibility. However, Colin failed to mention that the Notre Dame-Georgia ticket was the highest priced ticket in all of College Football this season. So maybe his theory of the shrinking Notre Dame profile might not hold water. Because there are still a ton of people that want to see them play.

on the trip to ND is like visiting a famous landmark or museum. Most of those fans traveled for the experience, to witness the cradle of college football, not to see a good ND football game. Sad but true. Had ND still been a top flight program, they might have put 40,000 butts in the seats for $1500 a pop.

You wouldn't believe the number of Dawg fans that I met who were absolutely thrilled to be there, and this was before the game.
ND is on life support living off its past and tradition. That's why they were there, to see and experirnce that.
There being at the game had nothing to do with the relevancy of our football team

If we cared, we wouldn't stand for this. Look at that stadium (a veritable taj mahal) and look at the money flowing into the University, and there is zero consequence for our teams being mediocre. As long as we're mediocre, our old rich guys will still keep funding the university with stories of Tim Brown's Glory Days. Just win, baby.
a dose of energy, but will never be irrelevant..
take they are working their way into the abyss.
