As I've stated earlier, I believe Wimbush suffers from anxiety due to the horribly wild inaccuracy you just don't see in other QBs.
Whatever his problem is, if he doesn't get is solved for next year, ND better have someone competent ready to go sooner rather than later.

And how everyone seems to forget the crap recruiting classes Weis inherited from Willingham. The junior and senior classes during Clausen's first year were ranked in the 40's.
An absolute horrible situation to walk into.

Look forward to seeing if he can develop, but you have to clearly and effectively evaluate who will be the best QB for your team. Nobody can or should be "anointed"....
Of course, that's another area where I lack confidence in Kelly after the Kizer and Zaire issues.

It is time to get another QB ready to go next year. Whether it is Davis or Jurkovec, somebody who can complete more than 50% of passes needs to step up. The couldn't do any worse considering Wimbush is at the bottom of the barrel statistically passing the ball.
Yep. He has been in the system for three years now.
career back-up and Davis is in the Wimbush mold as he is a better runner than passer (although he probably isn't as athletic as Wimbush)
A 6'5" mobile gunslinger is what ND needs. If ND commits to the run game next year, they don't need a QB throwing 40 times a game. All the offense needs is someone who can complete passes on a consistent basis and doesn't choke every time the bright lights come on.
as a QB,which is very key in beating top opponents, cannot be discounted. If he improves just a little bit, he will win many games for us. That said maybe Jurkovec has it too, but I cannot imagine he is as capable as making great plays out of broken plays as Winbush is. Winbush is not missing by much he just needs to improve a little and have the receivers step up and help him out. Stepherson seems to be our only polished receiver.
He has no one reliable to throw to. Way too many drops this year and WRs giving up on catch-able balls. Drops have cost this team as much as poor throws. But he's the QB, so he takes the heat.
Who can he trust? Stepherson is clearly the best ND has, at least most reliable, and he has had a few drops and nearly dropped the first TD.
Just my opinion, but I believe he is trying to be too perfect with the football because he doesn't trust his receivers. He fell apart last week after Claypool dropped that pass. You could see it on his face, it affected him greatly. He needs to be mentally tougher, but fuck, someone has to step up and help him out.
surprised when it does hit them. Not being used to this they drop it. I think the problem lies with both and it's harder to see who's fault it is more. Given, what most QBs are supposed to do, be accurate, it has to start there. If that's not present then nothing works. We are seeing this real-time.

mechanics with short throws. He's like Ryan Mallett. He needs some off season work, but they also should be designing more downfield plays.

99% of black qb's have cannon's for arms.
Must agree with you. I just don't have the confidence in Wimbush that I've had in past years in other QBs

Get Stepherson more involved.... Smythe down the seam...More play action...Drop the bubble screen pass and WR screen. He can redeem his season on the road against Stanford...

The names should never be mentioned or compared to one another.
threw about 6 times a game so it was always a surprise and the receivers were almost always wide open because of it. I never saw a QB win so much with so little passing talent.
from ND under Holtz.

and hopefully, Brian Kelly will be somewhere else

only about 9 minutes. That being said let's see if he improves or Jurkovec pushes him.
