...just resolve yourselves to the fact that a 10-2 non conference team is not going to the playoffs this year.

We're not quite ready for prime time.
Even if you get your ass kicked, you can hold your head up high and say "I had a cup of coffee in the big leagues". There's nothing more gratifying looking back at an athletic career and knowing that you went against the best.

Can’t see how we are not in if we beat Stanford in that scenario.

Than on this board. ND has a shot if things get a little weird then next few weeks.
Clemson needs to lose to South Carolina, Miami or both?
They're is no way the committee will leave out an undefeated conference champion.
You can pretty much assume SEC champion is in. ACC Champion are in: even if both lose this week, they will still be rated above OSU. Big 10 is pretty much done unless Wisconsin wins out.
Oklahoma wins out and they're in.
We will always be behind Miami and Georgia unless Georgia losses to GT.
Our chances lie in Auburn losing to Alabama and Wisconsin losing to OSU.
We do have a chance if it is us or OSU.
All in all, we're pretty much done. It takes too many things to go against what should happen for us to get in.
And Oklahoma loses the Big12 championship. Then there is at least a discussion among 2 loss teams.
It would take about 10 upsets in the next two weeks for us to get in.

I am sure there is some possible way for the Irish to get into the play-offs but who wants a repeat of the beat-down we took against Bama in 2012. Of course, I don't care who we play, or who is the coach, I always root for the kids representing the Irish. Just don't want another embarrassing loss that could potentially set the program back even further. After the way we played the last two weeks I have to admit I am hesitant. And starting the game against Navy with 3 straight pass plays is an indication that we are reverting back to Kelly's game usual plan of slinging it around the field. I like Winbush, be he doesn't have the accuracy of Kizer. A recipe for disaster.
