Good coaches come and go for sure. It's not the end at all.
But there is glaring sign for Brian Kelly ---- If you are good and know what you are doing, Brian is too controlling. He doesn't let these guys do what got them there. He doesn't let them run their systems, plays or calls. At least on the offensive side of the ball.
It's no different on the field either. He brings in a ton of talent which for the most part he doesn't make use of, and squanders it on the bench.
Brian Kelly did a great job building this program. By the same token he's doing an equally great job tearing it down by being too controlling, a know it all, and too difficult to work with or play for.
Sad.

Show me one successful college football head coach who's not highly controlling.
How do you know that Kelly is hard to work for? Have you been in the meetings?
Tell me which deserving player has not been allowed to play. Please support your assertion with facts.
If both Elko and Long get poached, the only thing it is evidence of is Kelly making good hires. Both will be missed for sure, but good programs regularly have top assistants poached. Alabama is evidence of that.

That every dumbass on ND boards like this one and ND Nation bitched about. Shows what dumb fucks we ND fans can be.

Two of which finished in the top 15. ND won 10 games playing the #2 SOS (sagarin). Everyone is disappointed with how it ended. But ND assistants getting poached by huge dollars and/or the likes of Saban isn’t a knock on Kelly. No matter how much you want it to be.
Nice “retirement” from the board, by the way.
Except for yet another ND collapse in November. 3 loses to ranked teams on the year. It would be different if, at least once in the CFP era, ND didn't fail in November. 2 out of 4 years of the CFP ND has cracked the top 4 but couldn't hold on. ND lost, horribly, in the 2012 NC game. ND lost in the 2015 Fiesta Bowl pretty badly. Excuse us for not cheering for joy about another year that ND was in the conversation but failed to succeed. I could give Kelly a pass if at least one of the aforementioned opportunities had resulted in success.

2 of those seasons actually saw undefeated Novembers. His first year and 2012. Basically ND loses every November under Kelly. When you want to play for and win championships, you can't lose in November.
To break it down :
1st 4 years under Kelly = 3 November losses.
2nd 4 years under Kelly = 9 November losses.
He ain't gettin better!
This follows a 7-1 record where all but Georgia was a blowout. I call that a collapse. And it's a trend.

I simply laid out the facts. ND collapsed in November under Kelly’s leadership. They have collapsed the past 4 seasons in November. Just facts. Not opinion. My glass is half empty with Kelly because his teams have digressed since coming to ND. Doesn’t make me a fraud. Makes me a fan that I care when all ND has to play for is a national championship and I’m not happy when they don’t get that chance. A fraud says “rah rah” for 10 wins despite missing out on the CFP. Despite losing to Ga, getting embarrassed by Miami and losing, AGAIN, to Stanford in November. All ranked opponents. The opponents that championships don’t choke to.

Mike Locksley

A few players are lobbying for Locksley. If Long is on the radar then it's VERY new news.
We all have noticed Kelly becoming unhinged with his QB's during the game.
Not against LSU.
It was Chip Long who ripped the shit out of Wimbush.
And then the change...
It is Long's system. If Book can run it better than Wimbush. Let him start.
Kelly has to stop playing favorites.
His best coaches move on, often up.
Encourages others to look around.
Even if it is only the coach's agent floating a client's name around, it helps with extracting more $s out of ND.

in high demand
if any coach is called on by Dabo, Saban, Meyer, etc. they HAVE to consider it.
a chance to coach top 5 recruiting classes every year.
Meyer took our Oline coach a few years ago + he took Tony Alford.
Kelly has done a good job. 2nd to only Holtz in the past 20 years.
Now, he just needs to fine tune to get us to the NC.
willing to overpay to get them. As for the rest of your message, neither I nor you know anything about what goes on inside the team to make such a definitive statement. It may be true, but we don't know. What we do know if that money talks, and talks loudly..
