a good day yesterday seems like nothing has changed. His accuracy looked below average on those
basic easy throws. Kelly doesn't want a QB controversy but he is going to have one if
wimbush plays like he did the 2nd half of last year.
I assume they can put in a game plan to allow Book to succeed. I'm assuming it would be Book since he has a ton of experience in the offensive system and Jurkovich didn't even early entry to get reps in the spring. He has a lot of talent, probably more than Book, so who knows? I just hope they don't start the game with a QB who can't deliver and thus fall behind early. The defense will really have to step up.
Book is nothing more than a mobile Tommy Rees without his accuracy. Keep him in the pocket and we have no offense. We need Wimbush to be effective.
If Wimbush is inept, we'll see Book for a couple of games and then, if he is any good, Jurkovec as the starter. We might as well since a season with Book as the starter is would be like chinese water torture. Book is a great #2 if Wimbush has to come out due to injury or merely to give him a break but once teams get tape on him and can prepare for him as starter, it'll be all over.
I do want to see Jurkovich get into 4 games, so if Wimbush is good to go that will limit Book’s playing time in mop up duty for at least those 4 games.
That was some bad QB play.................. maybe it's disinformation

When I watched BW's throws they seemed so wild and scattered I thought he might be doing it on purpose. Missing the entire net???? How can that happen? I'm hoping we see an entirely different BW in the final open practice on Wednesday. I'm really a big fan of BW's and I want him to be successful. I hope he can discipline himself enough to not let his head be his biggest enemy.

The short version: Wimbush sucks.

He said he had a bad day, and he contrasted it with the prior day that he said was good.
This is going to be a brutally long camp because the board is going to be filled with sweeping conclusions based on small samples.
Sounds like an apt description of groupthink coverage by the paysites that cover ND football as well.
Miss the gimmes - routine, and miss with such flare, something ain’t workin’ the way it should. Not only that, those who are in the play with you, eg; the receiver is missing out on practice too.
and misrepresenting the analysis as saying the player “sucks.” I’m not rooting for any particular QB to win the job. I just watched and listened to the linked analysis and commented on it. Wimbush looked bad on the few minutes we saw. No dispute. The analyst said that and noted he had a good day before. None of it means he sucks or has improved. And it won’t mean Book “sucks” when he has a bad few throws. Or Jurkovec. Nobody concluded he “sucks” when he had an awful performance at the Army Bowl, . . at least I hope nobody did.
he makes the offense very dangerous with the ability to score from anywhere on the field. Not that the others aren’t good enough to move the offense. I’m just basing it on what I liked about Wimbush from last year.
What I mean is simply “I’m good with whichever QB gives ND the best chance to win.” I’m rooting for all the QBs to fulfill their potential. If that happens, BW does bring more to the table than Book for the reasons you mention. But if Wimbush doesn’t progress and Book does . . . I’m completely on board with Book leading the way. Or Jurkovec for that matter . . . but I’m skeptical of a true freshman who wasn’t an early enrollee being ready to handle it. If he’s able to do it, fine.

Obviously there is more to that decision than a few passes on this video, but just wow.
Interesting that the first segment shows Jurkovec and Wimbush, but no Book.
But hope it isn't true that Wimbush is still a problem. Otherwise I expect Book will start and Jurkovich will also play.
Those throws he misses are just flat out terrible. A high school freshman makes those throws on a bad day.
WB is either lazy or just doesn’t give a shit.
It looked like the same Brandon Winbush of 2017. Very inaccurate with the short passes. Hopefully this is just an anomaly.
Admittedly when you watch early practice sessions and even pregame warmup sometimes, guys can be off. I wonder how he was the rest of the practice.
He will always be an inconsistent thrower. He may improve some, but the first part of practice should not come as a surprise to anyone.
The problem is, BK isn't going to change his system to help BW be a better QB. BW has to get better at running BK's system. ND may continue to run the ball more, like last year, but the passing system is still going to require BW to make multiple reads and difficult throws (for him) over and over.
He can still have a great year IF 1) ND can run the ball effectively and frequently and 2) his receivers make plays for him. Too many bad drops last year and very few "tough" catches made.
BW needs a lot of help to be a great college QB, but the talent is there.
Agreed.
It's not much better after a drop by a WR. He definitely needs to be mentally tougher and move on to the next play unaffected. Hoping that's just part of the growing process, but he seemed affected by the poor throws in the practice clips.
poor throws is quite telling.
