Here it is again, going into another season with serious doubts about the QB. When will it stop? Kizer was the salvation until he wasn't, how's it working out for him in the NFL? But, he was much better than Zaire who was much better than Golson, who was a much better prospect than Rees. How far should I go back before Kelly - Crist, Clausen, Jones, Quinn, Holiday, and my favorite Dillingham. What a "Muderers Row". Interestingly, Golson who was repeatedly bashed by many on this board was the only one that took the team to the National Championship game. Don't get me wrong, all these QB's have exhibited fine qualities as being exceptional people and fine representatives of ND. But when you put people in positions to fail you are a poor leader and manager. I know Kelly didn't recruit the latter but in the almost eight years since he became head coach the program has yet to find a QB to compete at the highest level, That's on him, not the players.
They are still working on his fundamentals. What have you been doing for 3 years?
calling
... now the kid’s head is so screwed up that he can’t throw a 7 yard swing pass.
and he's an all-american. College football has always been riddled with all-american QB's that have major limitations, yet their coaches put them in position to succeed. Tim Tebow, Eric Crouch, Tremone Boykin, Tony Rice, etc, etc, etc......
Great coaches know how to help their players succeed while hiding their limitations. Unfortunately for ND, Brian Kelly has shown a complete inability to massage his system to accommodate any Qb's particular skill set or hide their weaknesses.
And BK probably wonders why NFL teams aren't knocking down his door. He'll never realize that NFL owners/GMs want coaches that can take their players and get them to succeed, not coaches that need them to find the right players so the coach can succeed.

He should have been fired after what he did in 2016...

Not sure what 'serious issues' you allude to. Let's arrive at grand, sweeping conclusions based on a few training camp vids, shall we?
While I have my concerns about BW, I prefer to watch actual game performance before forming an opinion.
As for 'how did that work out' for Kizer, I would say exceptionally well. He is 22, he's made $2.2M, and could make $2.7M over the next three years. He is battling to backup one of the all-time great QBs. We should all have his problems.
