1st of all, I have never told someone to sit down. But I was tempted at the Michigan game. There were three people about three rows in front of us who stood for virtually the entire game. They weren't rabidly cheering anymore than anyone else, they were just standing. In fact they were generally at lot more sedate than the people around us. They were easily in the 30s so not recent grads who are used to standing for the whole game. Everyone in line of sight was annoyed but no one said anything because we all sort of "got it" but these three were a giant pain in the ass to all the people who had to stand up to see the game. You can cheer sitting down as well as you can standing up. There is nothing sacred about standing up unless you are in the student section.
Thought I'd stir the pot....................
When the crowd rises on a key moment or shoots out their seats on a big play that is impressive.
I have been in crowds before the stadium renovations where the noise was so deafening the opposing players could not snap the ball.
Rising in lunatic unison is much more intimidating. Standing for the sake of standing is for amateurs.
the game. Tenn,UGA and LSU.
I never use the SEC as a standard of fan behavior.
They are by and large Neanderthals who scrape their knuckles when they stand.

isle and walkways. That’s how you get 100,000 plus...
its a football game, people have the option to stand. I have been yelled at to sit down for a kickoff during a very close michigan state game. I understand sitting for calm moments or an average play, but during big moments, if i want to stand, i will.
and people wonder why there is no home field advantage for notre dame... selling tickets, can't stand...

I get standing and cheering especially at key plays, kick offs, etc. But these folks were standing the entire game, even during timeouts. It was odd.
By the way, standing or sitting has nothing to do with a home field advantage. You can make just as much noise sitting as you do standing.
“ sit down!” It will sound like cheering??
Scream all you want. Until that changes your bleating supplications will fall on deaf ears.

My generation won NCs. We rose together when the moment presented itself.
We didn't stand and scream then bitch at seniors. We got it done.
Millennials and snowflakes have whined not won.
you know.....trouble in the end zone.
yeah... you can make as much noise sitting down... but do you?
