If you dont know how to get guys in the game to get reps and use them effectively while they're learning then you're not doing your job as a coach.
Other schools with "depth" have used young players in situational plays to let them do one thing they're good at and get those meaningful reps.
ALSO...if you dont know how to blow out teams youre suppose to ...to let younger guys get meaningful quarters...then you're also not doing your job as a coach.
Recruiting a 5 star DB, LB, DT, DE that doesnt see the field till he's a Junior is about...development
Bad luck I suppose. At least now Kelly has no choice other than to play some Freshmen on the defensive front unless he expects the guys left can play every snap like Coney and Tranquill did against lowly Ball State. Why is Kelly so reluctant to get Freshmen playing time? Tons of other top teams seem to manage to do it.

Guys that look like a LB that have picked up the game in HS or the undersized productive guy that needs to get bigger
Because Kelly plays not to lose, instead of playing to win..... that is why he is reluctant to play freshman.....he is slow developing players and his offense has slow developing plays...with Wimbush the development is off the rails....since the Miami game he has had one quality win, Michigan.... that is one out of the past six games....

Enjoyed the attacking defense that Elko put in place.... would like to see the offense once Dexter plays.....
Many times we have seen him take points off the board by going for it on 4th down.
He tries too hard sometimes.
Other times he is so conservative it makes no sense.
Running into a stacked box to take time off the clock only makes sense late in the game with a reasonable lead.
