Wimbush and Book are mediocre, and nobody’s beating Bama this year.
Jurkovec seems like a true Kelly system QB (I think that’s a compliment?) with tons of potential. Why not let it ride with the 5 star kid from PA over a couple low energy MAC talents at best, and at least get him groomed for next year knowing the Tide are unstoppable? Grayshirting talented QBs never works, I don’t want to lose this kid to a transfer before he even gets a sniff at the job.
Better save him for some other day. Plus, he hasn't been in the "system" long enough. Rees has not had enough time to develop the next Joe Montana.
and the ones who decided to play basketball instead of enrolling early and getting in a spring practice to learn the system are the best of all.
best and most popular players to the fans.
Not so much at the top schools that have actual 5 star QBs who have been coached properly
The challenge at ND is they are all mediocre so none stick out
Throw him in as the guy too soon, and whatever bad habits he has and undeveloped skills will harden, because he won't be taking the time to master everything. He and the offense will be doing what's necessary to win and avoiding mistakes at all costs.
As you said, we are not a championship contender. So no need to do anything desperate.

when those before him were not doing well at the QB position.
Jurkovec is still learning and the longer he stays off the field and learns in practice, the more advantageous it will be for ND down road and more importantly, him. This OLine isn't doing all that well and until it gets better, it might be best to keep those guys with experience out there - at least they have the build to take the punishment of being hit.
This is not saying, BK will coach him to be a better QB but it certainly is clear, Wimbush's only issues are, accuracy and touch - other than that he's a 5 star guy.
