2nd halves - 19 to 31 in favor of the opponents with 6 to 24 in the 4th quarter.
If ND had repeated performance of the first halves in the seconds, here's the final scores and I think we'd all feel a lot better:
ND 42 MICH 20
ND 28 BSU 12
ND 32 VANDY 6
I don't know what the hell is happening at half time, but clearly it's not working.
3 more first half possessions, and 3 less 2nd half possessions. Thus, assuming their average 7 points every 3 possessions, and giving the same to opponents, these number s are a little less stark, but still statistically significant.
receiving the kickoff.
because he's a moron.

ND has scored 39 points total in Q2,Q3, and Q4 combined in all three games. They have scored 31 in the three combined 1st quarters. That's an average of 10.3 points per quarter in the first quarter and only 4.75 points per quarter in quarters 2-4. ND's problems begin in the second quarter, not in the second half. ND has outscored its opponents 31-3 in the first quarter. They have been outscored 47-39 from 2nd quarter on.
I did it quarter by quarter, but chose to simplify for this audience.

I am thinking the latter.

Neither of those options is positive so why do you have to be that way? I know, it's the pureblood pollyana coming out in you
God forbid someone questions a damn thing about the team; despite it's luke warm performance so far.
Now see if you stop sucking during the games.
Better?
OK, He isn't a great coach, but he is a good one...He has to know more football than this offense shows..I watch them,a nd cant help think, I could have a better offense..I will say he misses offensive weapons Stepherson, McIntosh, Williams..
Kelly never was the offensive genius ESPN billed him (and we bought him) as and it's easy to see why, if you just look at his football playing /coaching lineage.
•He was a four-year letter winner as a Linebacker at Assumption College
•His first coaching experience was as Linebacker Coach /Defensive Coordinator for Assumption the four years following his graduation
•Then he went to GVSU as a graduate assistant Defensive Backs coach in '87
•Then he was promoted to Defensive Coordinator for GVSU in '89...Defensive Coordinator is where he first made his Mark on championship level teams [here is a peek at how good that '89 team did with Kelly in his first year as Defensive Coordinator. Pay particular attention to how good the offense already is, when Kelly is DC and hasn't even touched it:
"GV led Division II in total offense, averaging 480.9 yards per game and also in points with 44.5. One of the highlights of the 1989 season was GVSU’s record breaking 91–0 victory over Valparaiso. The Lakers jumped out to a 56–0 halftime lead as they rolled up 731 yards in total offense. Freshman kicker Miguel Sagaro from Spain set a Division II record when he connected on 65 of 66 extra points for the season and sophomore fullback Eric Lynch scored 21 touchdowns. Lynch went on to begin an outstanding career with the Detroit Lions. Grand Valley finished third in the final 1989 Division II poll and earned the first of three consecutive playoff berths, losing to Indiana, PA, 34–24 on a frigid November afternoon highlighted by 11 inches of snow on the ground"]
•Then in '91 when coach Beck (who was the real man behind their powerful offense) left to become Notre Dame's new Offensive Coordinator, Kelly after doing so well as DC on a team that had three straight playoff berths, was promoted to Head Coach and for the first time he now has any oversight on the offensive side of the ball. To this point he has played defense for four years as a four letter LB and then spent first 8 seasons coaching (prior to becoming a HC) on the defensive side of the ball...where would you say his coaching roots are??
SIDE NOTES
-GVSU was 11-1 and 10-2 in 89 and 90 with Kelly as DC
-In Kelly's first 10 years as HC of GVSU, their records were:
1) 9-3
2) 8-3
3) 6-3-2
4) 8-4
5) 8-3
6) 8-3
7) 9-2
8) 9-3
9) 5-5
10) 7-4
-In all these years with Kelly at the helm there were no longer offensive bench marks being set like there was RIGHT before Kelly took over
I'm just sayin..

He is not an effective leader..He may be a good coach to some people... Leaders admit to when things are not working and adapt using a different strategy.. Not surprised Elko, and others bolt at the first opportunity to leave... Coaches are temporary I root for the team, not because of the coach, but in spite of the coach...He is a blow hard and his get used to it comment after the Tulsa debacle says everything about him and his ego... Some people can handle the big stage with class and dignity and genuine openness...Not Kelly... Whole country full of people like him... solid gold plated phony...Go Irish, handle Wake, beat Stanford and set up a redemption game against Tech...atone for that Miami disaster...
He's far from a great coach, and you must be a great coach to win a title at ND....I just think unless things pick up, its time for a change..I will always remember Ara and Lou's teams looking like a well oiled machine, I can never say that about a Kelly team..

I would say punt returns and no killer instinct
Again, I think our lack of a true RB is showing.
failure to identify a quarterback who is tall enough to stick in the pocket and throw vertically downfield...one of the problems why Wimbush struggles in the pocket is that he is only 6'...Kelly clearly doesn't understand the importance of height...one stubborn coach.
