....pointing to a potential major roster change this weekend.
We shall see.
ND has an OL that has looked embarrassing in pass pro.
WR's that can't get open and when they do, they are dropping balls.
An OL that while struggling, is big and powerful and more suited for power runs.
An OL coming off its best performance in the run game.
You're a week away from getting back your biggest home run threat, who is a RB.
A QB who is 3-0 that is a dynamic runner when you let him run.
You have a defense that appears to be pretty good, especially when they aren't on the field a long time.
And what is the solution to fix the offense?
Throw in the back up QB in the first road game of the year and throw the ball more.
Poor guy can't get out of his own way.
Starting Book or platooning, which he will surely do, is him grasping for answers...because he knows that Shaw is a better coach than he is and will expose him on most days.
He thinks Wake Forest is still manageable enough for him to try and work things out...which may or may not be the case.

I would love Dexter to be able to play but how would he get out of a 4 game University imposed suspension a game early? Did he win some kind of belated appeal?

33% of the regular season other than a second positive test for marijuana.
The only 4 game (33%) suspension listed is for a second positive test for marijuana in the University scholarship handbook. The rumor was ALWAYS a 4 game (33%) suspension.
We know he tested positive once. Probably the second positive test was as a part of his court mandated testing for his legal issues.
My only question is whether a court ordered positive test meets the University requirement for testing which is to be either part of the University testing protocol or the NCAA testing protocol. I always thought if it didn't that would have been grounds for a possible appeal.

If it is 4 games, there is only one possible reason.

unless Wimbush is injured. That said, I would not be surprised if Book gets some meaningful series. This is no longer just a tune up for Stanford, it is a game ND really has to dominate. But if Wimbush is erratic he could be on a short leash. Of course, where real improvement is necessary is with the receivers and play calling.
I really like Wimbush. Honestly. He has made a lot of plays forced on him by inconsistent offensive line play, and they helped us out in ways that Book (whom I also like as qb, but not as much) would not have been able to. In my opinion, FWIW. I really hope that I have been misled and that Wimbush starts. He gives us the best chance of winning. But I'm just saying, get ready to be unsurprised if Book runs onto the field first.
the two minute, actually one minute drive at the end of the first half last year against Wake.
plus Book would do better against an alleged weak Wake secondary

We have won three games by 6 pts on average and are still #8?
What difference does it make?
I thought a win was a win?
Seems to be the pollyana sentiment right?

I am being serious here. We barely beat Vandy and Ball St and it had ZERO impact on our ranking. Do you really think if we killed them we would be ranked higher?
I don’t. The only challenging games left or even close to challenging are Stanford and VT.
There is a reason the SOS is #42.
by Stanford and probably Virginia Tech.

if ND is trailing and he's playing horribly, LIKE THE Citrus, when you can still salvage the game..But he deserves every opportunity to start..

Here’s a list of every ranked team that has thrown more INTs than TDs:
Notre Dame
I have no inside info, but there have been some anecdotal signs that point to something happening. For one, the rumor is flying around the campus.
It could all be bullshit, too.
Wake Forest's pass defense is one interception to ten touch downs.
may not be a quick-twitch athlete but he is mobile enough if the lanes are shut.

Pete Sampson just tweeted this:
“Asked Brian Kelly twice who’s starting at quarterback on Saturday.
Twice he says both Brandon Wimbush and Ian Book will both play.”
