How could Kelly have kept this guy on the bench? Kudos to him for hanging in there and coming in and running offense so well. Clearly he is far better than BW and brings out the best in our players
The QB play and...the playcalling
Kizer was as good as this for a spell but the playcalling turned horrid. Will never understand the playcalling vs Clemson or NC St...
The playcalling vs Stanford was stellar and Book made the right throws.

ability and arm strength. To me it is obvious that they were hoping he would learn to play the position too. He didn't, and Kelly had the guts to put Book in there even though he was replacing an undefeated QB. Book "obviously did not have the upside" that Wimbush had. This was very often stated by the experts here.
Wimbush isn't getting drafted as a QB into the NFL, but as an overall college QB Wimbush was a huge improvement from Kizer.

You bring out a great point in saying Book bringing out the best in other players.
but unfortunately that game the ND defense gave up 50 points and ND lost in double overtime. In any event Book played a fantastic game and an argument could be made that Book’s game last night was one of, if not the, best of the Kelly era. Certainly by far the best of the Long/Rees era :)
Book is looking really good. I think it's still too early to know if he is the real deal, but it's looking great so far.
Clausen...hard to judge. He was probably the best QB with no offensive line.
biggest bonus with Book. The whole team plays with his demeanor and attitude.
It’s like night and day with Book in there...give him a lot of credit
I can see him leading this team into the CFP
was just cursed with the shitty timing of being here under ty and Weis.

Give Book a few more games and see where this journey takes us

Clausen was better throwing the deep ball but was no run threat. Quinn also had a stronger arm but not the accuracy shown by Book on throws under 30 yds. Book is very accurate there, a quick runner, and likely as fast as any going through his reads. Clausen just was not a runner and Quinn lacked in the accuracy dept. but was tough and a great leader. As far as making an offense efficient and a threat from all personnel, Book is as good as any. The only recent QB I would give a top grade to is Clausen for arm strength and accuracy. I like them all, but the move to Book makes the offense very, very threatening.
