After watching Book in two games and yes I watched both games again. Watch his ability to keep plays alive and instinctually make the correct play, a short run, a pass completion, or throwing it out of bounds creates confidence on the team that he doesn't panic or create a bonehead mistake. At least two TD's against Standford where he found the open man. He doesn't need the strongest arm, or run the fastest, he just needs the capability to mostly do the right thing. As Mark would say, there are many club golfers that can drive the ball over 300 yards, great short game play, and can putt. But can they do it when it matters. That's why, I believe, that ND and Book will come out with a win at Blacksburg, because he can get the job done when it matters.

The mental game still gets short shrift in other sports besides golf. One of these days mental coaching will be on a par with the physical, but when?
