why, after the first series, the defense obliterated Pitt while the offense and special teams played like shit? Seriously, how can this be explained other than coaching?
and we couldn't even run the ball. If you are having trouble passing due to being rushed and you can't run the ball, then there is only one common denominator. The OL and today they looked bad.
Great game plan by Pitt. Really only two plays gave Pitt the game until the end; the encroachement that lead to 7 and the Kick return. Take either or both of those away and ND wins without a worry. Add in the struggles by the OL and it looks like the mess we saw.
We've played great so far, but I don't think we realize how poor this OL might actually be. We don't have a good OL coach either.

Until Book shows that he can complete passes downfield defenses will continue to stack the box Won’t be able to run and Book will be under constant pressure. Gotta complete passes downfield to keep defenses honest.

That said O line and pass protection below average today and that slide by Book just short of the first down is a serious asinine play. Special teams scares the shit out of me. We celebrate what should be common plays and see way too many bad plays. From returns, snaps , off sides to poor punting and kicking. By far, ST is our worse unit on the team and plain scary
rtunately, he hit the long TD when it counted most.
He has to do it all 4 quarters. And not just a couple!
